Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced
Consultant Neurologist specializing in Stroke Medicine to join our Neurology Department in Abu Dhabi.
The successful candidate will provide expert diagnosis and management of patients with acute and chronic cerebrovascular disorders and will contribute to the development of a comprehensive stroke service, including hyperacute stroke care and secondary stroke prevention.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consultant-level care for patients with acute and chronic cerebrovascular disorders.
- Assess and manage:
- Acute ischemic stroke
- Intracerebral hemorrhage
- Subarachnoid hemorrhage
- Transient ischemic attacks (TIA)
- Cerebral venous thrombosis
- Carotid and other cerebrovascular disorders
- Cryptogenic and embolic stroke
- Participate in acute stroke and hyperacute stroke pathways.
- Assess patients for intravenous thrombolysis and mechanical thrombectomy in collaboration with neurointerventional teams.
- Provide post-stroke management and secondary prevention.
- Manage stroke risk factors and coordinate long-term vascular risk reduction.
- Interpret and integrate neurological imaging and investigations, including CT, CTA, MRI and MRA, as appropriate to clinical privileges.
- Participate in stroke unit/ICU rounds and multidisciplinary stroke meetings.
- Collaborate with Interventional Neuroradiology, Neurosurgery, Cardiology, Emergency Medicine, Rehabilitation and Neurocritical Care teams.
- Contribute to stroke protocols, clinical pathways, quality improvement and patient-safety initiatives.
- Participate in outpatient stroke clinics and inpatient consultations.
- Provide education and supervision to residents, fellows and junior physicians.
- Participate in clinical research, teaching and academic activities.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with hospital policies and UAE healthcare regulations.
Qualifications
- Medical degree from a recognized medical school.
- Completed accredited postgraduate training in Neurology.
- Recognized Board Certification/Specialist or Consultant qualification in Neurology.
- Fellowship or advanced formal training in Stroke Medicine / Vascular Neurology is highly desirable.
- Valid Department of Health (DoH) Abu Dhabi Consultant license/eligibility.
Required Experience
- Significant post-specialist experience as a Consultant/Specialist Neurologist.
- Demonstrated experience in acute stroke management.
- Experience with thrombolysis and participation in mechanical thrombectomy pathways.
- Experience managing patients in a dedicated stroke unit or comprehensive stroke center is highly desirable.
- Strong experience in secondary stroke prevention and cerebrovascular disease management.
Preferred Skills
- Fellowship training in Vascular Neurology / Stroke.
- Experience in comprehensive stroke center services.
- Experience with telestroke and hyperacute stroke pathways.
- Familiarity with advanced neuroimaging and stroke imaging protocols.
- Academic, teaching, research or quality-improvement experience is desirable.

DoH Abu Dhabi–licensed Consultant Neurologist with dedicated fellowship or advanced training in Stroke/Vascular Neurology, with substantial experience in acute stroke management, thrombolysis and comprehensive stroke care.
