About the Role
We are seeking a distinguished Consultant Paediatric Ophthalmologist with extensive expertise in diagnosing and managing a wide range of ophthalmic conditions affecting infants, children, and adolescents. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive paediatric eye care services, utilizing advanced diagnostic techniques, evidence-based treatment approaches, and surgical expertise to deliver high-quality, patient-centred ophthalmology care.

Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive ophthalmic assessment, diagnosis, and management for paediatric patients
- Manage congenital, developmental, and acquired eye disorders in children
- Diagnose and treat conditions including strabismus, amblyopia, refractive errors, and ocular motility disorders
- Perform and oversee paediatric ophthalmic procedures and surgeries where applicable
- Manage complex paediatric eye conditions requiring multidisciplinary care
- Provide early detection and intervention for visual development disorders
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical assessment and evidence-based guidelines
- Collaborate with paediatricians, neurologists, geneticists, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Participate in clinical governance, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
- Support medical education, training, and departmental development
Qualifications
- Board certification in Paediatric Ophthalmology / Ophthalmology with recognised paediatric ophthalmology fellowship or equivalent
- Recognised Tier 1 qualification, including ABMS, Canadian Royal College certification, UK CCT/CCST, or an equivalent recognised qualification
- Minimum 3–5 years of post-specialisation experience in Paediatric Ophthalmology
- Eligibility for Consultant-level licensing with DHA, DOH, or MOHAP
Required Skills
- Extensive experience in Paediatric Ophthalmology
- Expertise in diagnosing and managing childhood eye disorders
- Advanced knowledge of strabismus management and paediatric eye surgery
- Experience in managing congenital and developmental ophthalmic conditions
- Strong clinical decision-making and surgical skills
- Excellent communication skills with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to patient safety, clinical excellence, and continuous quality improvement
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment
