Stafmed is currently recruiting a highly experienced Consultant Pediatric Intensivist (PICU Consultant) for an exciting full-time position with a leading hospital in the UAE.

About the Role

We are seeking a distinguished Consultant Pediatric Intensivist with extensive expertise in managing critically ill pediatric patients within a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) setting. The successful candidate will provide advanced critical care services, utilizing evidence-based practices, advanced monitoring techniques, and multidisciplinary approaches to deliver high-quality care for complex pediatric cases. The successful candidate will join a progressive healthcare setting committed to delivering exceptional, patient-centred pediatric intensive care services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive critical care management for critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
  • Manage complex medical, surgical, and post-operative pediatric intensive care cases
  • Perform and oversee advanced critical care procedures and interventions
  • Manage respiratory failure, sepsis, shock, trauma, and multi-organ dysfunction in pediatric patients
  • Provide comprehensive pre-operative, operative, and post-operative critical care support
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical assessment and evidence-based guidelines
  • Collaborate with pediatricians, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Participate in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Support medical education, training, and departmental development

Qualifications

  • Board certification in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine / Pediatric Intensive Care
  • Recognised Tier 1 qualification, including ABMS, Canadian Royal College certification, UK CCT/CCST, or an equivalent recognised qualification
  • Minimum 3–5 years of post-specialisation experience in Pediatric Intensive Care
  • Eligibility for Consultant-level licensing with DHA, DOH, or MOHAP

Required Skills

  • Extensive experience in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
  • Expertise in managing critically ill pediatric patients
  • Advanced airway and respiratory support management
  • Experience with pediatric emergency and critical care procedures
  • Strong clinical decision-making and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and multidisciplinary teamwork abilities
  • Strong commitment to patient safety, clinical excellence, and quality improvement
