Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Consultant Pediatric Pulmonologist to provide comprehensive, evidence-based respiratory care to infants, children, and adolescents. The successful candidate will diagnose and manage a broad range of pediatric respiratory and pulmonary conditions and work collaboratively with pediatricians, intensivists, ENT specialists, respiratory therapists, nurses, and other multidisciplinary teams.

The candidate should meet the applicable Dubai Health Authority (DHA) licensing and credentialing requirements for Consultant-level practice in Pediatric Pulmonology.

The successful candidate will diagnose and manage a broad range of pediatric respiratory and pulmonary conditions and work collaboratively with pediatricians, intensivists, ENT specialists, respiratory therapists, nurses, and other multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consultant-level pediatric pulmonary consultations for inpatient and outpatient patients.
- Diagnose and manage pediatric respiratory conditions, including:
- Pediatric asthma and recurrent wheezing
- Recurrent and chronic respiratory infections
- Chronic lung disease
- Cystic fibrosis
- Bronchiectasis
- Sleep-related breathing disorders and pediatric obstructive sleep apnea
- Congenital and developmental respiratory disorders
- Chronic cough and unexplained respiratory symptoms
- Respiratory failure and complex pulmonary conditions
- Perform and interpret appropriate pulmonary investigations, including pulmonary function tests and other respiratory investigations.
- Undertake or supervise relevant pediatric respiratory procedures, where appropriately credentialed, including bronchoscopy.
- Develop individualized treatment plans and provide ongoing follow-up.
- Counsel children, parents, and caregivers regarding diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, medication use, and long-term respiratory care.
- Coordinate care with pediatric intensive care, ENT, allergy/immunology, cardiology, radiology, and other specialties.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
- Follow hospital clinical policies, patient-safety standards, and infection-control procedures.
- Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, audits, teaching, and professional development.
- Support the education and mentoring of junior physicians and healthcare professionals.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and hospital programs as required.
- MBBS/MBChB or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
- Recognized postgraduate qualification in Pediatrics.
- Recognized subspecialty qualification in Pediatric Pulmonology/Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine.
- Board certification or internationally recognized specialist qualification preferred.
- Consultant-level experience in Pediatric Pulmonology.
- Eligibility for or current DHA Consultant license in Dubai.
- Minimum experience as required under the applicable DHA Professional Qualification Requirements.
- Experience in a tertiary-care or internationally recognized hospital preferred.
- Strong experience managing complex pediatric respiratory cases.
- Experience with pediatric bronchoscopy and pulmonary function testing is advantageous.
- Experience in pediatric sleep medicine and long-term respiratory support is an advantage.
- Arabic language skills may be advantageous depending on the patient population.
- Excellent clinical judgment and diagnostic skills.
- Strong expertise in pediatric respiratory medicine.
- Excellent communication and parent/caregiver counselling skills.
- Patient-centered approach.
- Strong multidisciplinary teamwork.
- Commitment to evidence-based medicine and patient safety.
- Good documentation and EMR skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a busy hospital environment.
