Job Description

Role Summary

The Consultant Pediatric Radiologist provides expert diagnostic imaging services for infants, children, and adolescents, ensuring high‑quality interpretation, timely reporting, and close collaboration with multidisciplinary pediatric teams. The role supports advanced imaging pathways, contributes to clinical governance, and upholds international standards of safety and patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret pediatric X‑ray, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and fluoroscopy studies with high diagnostic accuracy.
  • Perform and supervise pediatric ultrasound and image‑guided procedures (e.g., line insertions, biopsies, drainage).
  • Provide subspecialty input for neonatal, emergency, surgical, and complex pediatric cases.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings (NICU, PICU, oncology, surgery, neurology).
  • Ensure compliance with radiation safety, ALARA principles, and child‑friendly imaging protocols.
  • Support development of clinical pathways, imaging guidelines, and quality‑improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to teaching and training of junior doctors, radiographers, and allied health staff.
  • Maintain accurate, timely reporting within departmental KPIs.
  • Participate in on‑call rota as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Medical degree and recognized specialty certification in Radiology (e.g., FRCR, ABR, RCPSC, equivalent).
  • Fellowship training in Pediatric Radiology from a recognized center.
  • Minimum 5–8 years post‑qualification experience in pediatric imaging.
  • DHA eligibility or license (or ability to obtain).
  • Strong expertise in cross‑sectional pediatric imaging and emergency pediatric radiology.

  • High diagnostic accuracy and clinical judgment.
  • Excellent communication with pediatricians, surgeons, and families.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, multicultural environment.
  • Commitment to patient safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with modern PACS/RIS and structured reporting.
