Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Pediatric Surgeon to join a leading tertiary healthcare facility in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive surgical care for infants, children, and adolescents with a wide range of congenital, acquired, and traumatic surgical conditions, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based, and patient-centered care.

The ideal candidate will work within a multidisciplinary pediatric team to deliver advanced surgical services and optimize outcomes for pediatric patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and manage a broad spectrum of pediatric surgical conditions including congenital anomalies, abdominal conditions, thoracic conditions, tumors, and trauma.
  • Perform elective and emergency pediatric surgical procedures.
  • Manage neonatal surgical cases including congenital malformations and complex neonatal emergencies.
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient consultations for pediatric surgical patients.
  • Collaborate with neonatology, pediatric ICU, anesthesia, radiology, and other subspecialties for integrated patient care.
  • Participate in emergency surgical coverage and trauma care for pediatric patients.
  • Develop individualized preoperative and postoperative management plans.
  • Ensure accurate documentation in compliance with DOH Abu Dhabi regulations and hospital policies.
  • Participate in clinical audits, research, teaching, and continuing medical education activities.
  • Maintain high standards of infection control, patient safety, and surgical quality.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by DOH Abu Dhabi.
  • Board Certification / Fellowship in Pediatric Surgery.
  • Valid DOH Consultant License or Eligibility Letter in Pediatric Surgery.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of post-board consultant experience in a tertiary care or academic hospital.
  • Strong expertise in neonatal and complex pediatric surgical procedures.
  • Excellent surgical, communication, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in minimally invasive pediatric surgery is an advantage.
  • Exposure to pediatric trauma and neonatal intensive care surgical collaboration.
  • Academic and research experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural healthcare environment.
