Job Description

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Consultant Psychiatrist to join a leading healthcare facility in Sharjah. The ideal candidate will be UK-trained, board-certified, and fluent in Arabic, with strong expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of a wide range of psychiatric disorders.

This role involves working within a multidisciplinary mental health team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered psychiatric care in both outpatient and inpatient settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of mental health disorders, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychosis, and personality disorders
  • Provide psychiatric evaluations, risk assessments, and ongoing treatment planning
  • Manage both acute psychiatric presentations and long-term mental health conditions
  • Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications safely and effectively
  • Deliver inpatient, outpatient, and emergency psychiatric care
  • Collaborate with psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals
  • Provide psychotherapy and supportive counseling when appropriate
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and treatment planning
  • Ensure compliance with ethical, legal, and clinical standards in psychiatric practice
  • Contribute to clinical governance, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Provide supervision and training to junior doctors and mental health staff
  • Promote mental health awareness and patient education initiatives

Requirements

  • Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution
  • Board Certification in Psychiatry (mandatory)
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a consultant psychiatrist
  • UK CCT / MRCPsych or equivalent Western training strongly preferred
  • Fluency in Arabic and English (mandatory/preferable depending on patient population)
  • Strong experience in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care
  • Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage complex and high-risk psychiatric cases
  • Strong understanding of cultural sensitivity in mental health care
  • Eligibility for UAE medical licensing (MOHAP for Sharjah)
