About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate
Consultant Psychiatrist to join a leading healthcare facility in Sharjah. The ideal candidate will be UK-trained, board-certified, and fluent in Arabic, with strong expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of a wide range of psychiatric disorders.
This role involves working within a multidisciplinary mental health team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered psychiatric care in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of mental health disorders, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychosis, and personality disorders
- Provide psychiatric evaluations, risk assessments, and ongoing treatment planning
- Manage both acute psychiatric presentations and long-term mental health conditions
- Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications safely and effectively
- Deliver inpatient, outpatient, and emergency psychiatric care
- Collaborate with psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals
- Provide psychotherapy and supportive counseling when appropriate
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and treatment planning
- Ensure compliance with ethical, legal, and clinical standards in psychiatric practice
- Contribute to clinical governance, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
- Provide supervision and training to junior doctors and mental health staff
- Promote mental health awareness and patient education initiatives
Requirements
- Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution
- Board Certification in Psychiatry (mandatory)
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a consultant psychiatrist
- UK CCT / MRCPsych or equivalent Western training strongly preferred
- Fluency in Arabic and English (mandatory/preferable depending on patient population)
- Strong experience in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care
- Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to manage complex and high-risk psychiatric cases
- Strong understanding of cultural sensitivity in mental health care
- Eligibility for UAE medical licensing (MOHAP for Sharjah)
