Position Overview
We are seeking a
Consultant Retina Surgeon to join a leading ophthalmology center in
Jeddah, KSA. The role involves managing complex vitreoretinal cases, advanced surgical procedures, and contributing to clinical excellence in a high-volume setting.
This opportunity is ideal for Western-trained or internationally certified consultants seeking a premium Gulf position with strong infrastructure and competitive compensation.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage medical and surgical retinal diseases.
- Perform advanced vitreoretinal surgeries, including:
- Pars plana vitrectomy
- Retinal detachment repair
- Macular hole surgery
- Diabetic vitrectomy
- Epiretinal membrane peeling
- Management of vitreous hemorrhage
- Administer intravitreal injections (anti-VEGF, steroids).
- Interpret OCT, FFA, fundus imaging, and other retinal diagnostics.
- Collaborate with cataract and anterior segment surgeons for combined cases.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation per Saudi regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement and multidisciplinary meetings.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent).
- Board Certification / Fellowship in Ophthalmology.
- Subspecialty Fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery.
- Minimum 35 years post-board experience as Consultant.
- Eligible for or holding Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) Consultant classification.
- Western Board preferred (UK CCT, FRCS, American Board, Canadian, Australian, etc.).
- Proven surgical case log in vitreoretinal procedures.
- Fluency in English (Arabic is an advantage).
