Job Description

The Specialist Spine Surgeon is responsible for diagnosing and treating disorders of the spine through both surgical and non-surgical methods. The role involves managing conditions such as degenerative spine diseases, spinal deformities, trauma, tumors, and infections, while ensuring high standards of patient care in line with UAE healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with spinal disorders.
  • Perform spine surgeries including:
  • Minimally invasive spine surgery (MISS)
  • Spinal fusion and instrumentation
  • Disc replacement and decompression procedures
  • Trauma and deformity correction surgeries
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative care.
  • Interpret diagnostic tests such as MRI, CT scans, and X-rays.
  • Collaborate with physiotherapists, pain specialists, and rehabilitation teams.

Patient Care

  • Ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
  • Educate patients and families about treatment options and recovery plans.
  • Adhere to infection control and patient safety protocols.

Administrative & Compliance

  • Comply with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) or Ministry of Health (MOH) regulations.
  • Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards.
  • Contribute to hospital policies and procedures.

Teaching & Research (Optional)

  • Participate in clinical research and continuous medical education (CME).

Qualifications

  • Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent).
  • Master's Degree / Doctorate (MS/MD/DNB) in Orthopedics or Neurosurgery.
  • Fellowship in Spine Surgery (preferred).

Experience

  • Minimum 35 years of post-specialization experience in spine surgery.
  • Proven track record in advanced spine procedures.
  • Experience in minimally invasive techniques is highly desirable.
