ABOUT THE ROLE

Lead pre- and post-award contract administration and protect the company's contractual and commercial position through disciplined notices, change management, claims strategy, risk control, negotiation and close-out.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review tender and contract documents, conditions, scope, amendments, securities, insurance obligations and payment mechanisms and prepare contract-risk summaries for management.

• Lead contract administration for client/main-contract and key subcontracts and ensure project teams understand notice periods, obligations, deliverables and entitlement requirements.

• Draft, review and negotiate contractual correspondence, notices, letters of reservation, variation submissions, claims, EOT submissions and responses to client/subcontractor claims.

• Maintain contract, change, claims, notice, bond/guarantee, insurance and key correspondence registers with clear status and required actions.

• Identify change events arising from revised drawings, instructions, delayed access/approvals, disruption, acceleration and other project events and ensure timely notice and substantiation.

• Coordinate with planning teams on delay analysis and with project/QS/technical teams on cause-effect, records, quantum and supporting evidence.

• Advise management and project teams on FIDIC/bespoke contract provisions, commercial risk, payment rights, suspension/termination issues and dispute-avoidance strategy.

• Support negotiation of variations, claims, settlements, final accounts and subcontract terms while preserving approved commercial positions.

• Review major subcontracts, purchase terms, LOIs, NDAs and contractual deviations and coordinate legal review where required.

• Ensure records are maintained for potential adjudication, arbitration or litigation and coordinate external counsel/claims consultants when authorized.

• Provide monthly contract-risk and claims reports highlighting exposure, entitlement, deadlines and management decisions required.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or Law; relevant postgraduate qualification is an advantage.

• Minimum 15 years of contracts/commercial experience in construction, preferably major MEP or building projects in the UAE/GCC.

• Strong practical knowledge of FIDIC forms and bespoke UAE construction contracts, change management, claims and extensions of time.

• Demonstrable experience drafting contractual notices and substantiating delay/disruption and variation claims.

• Strong understanding of project records, payment mechanisms, securities, insurances and final-account processes.

• Excellent contractual writing, negotiation, analytical and stakeholder-management skills.

• RICS, CIArb, PMP or relevant contractual/claims qualification is an advantage.

• Experience supporting dispute resolution and formal claims proceedings is preferred.
