Contracts & Commercial Director

Role Overview
Elegancia Arabia is seeking a seasoned Contracts & Commercial Director to lead the commercial and contractual functions across large-scale, high-value projects. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in mega projects within the GCC—particularly Saudi Arabia, and demonstrate strong command over FIDIC frameworks and Middle Eastern legal environments.
This role requires a strategic leader capable of safeguarding commercial interests, optimizing contract performance, and managing risk across complex project portfolios.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the contracts and commercial strategy across multiple mega projects
- Oversee contract administration, claims management, and dispute resolution
- Ensure compliance with FIDIC contracts (Red, Yellow, Silver Books, etc.)
- Provide expert guidance on contractual risk allocation and mitigation
- Manage commercial negotiations with clients, consultants, and subcontractors
- Drive cost control, forecasting, and commercial reporting
- Advise senior leadership on legal and commercial implications of project decisions
- Liaise with legal teams on regional laws and regulatory requirements (GCC / KSA)
- Establish and enforce best practices in commercial governance
Requirements
- 15–20+ years of experience in contracts and commercial management
- Proven track record managing mega projects in the GCC, with strong exposure to Saudi Arabia
- In-depth knowledge of FIDIC contracts and their practical application
- Strong understanding of Middle East construction laws and regulations
- Background in an engineering discipline (Civil, Mechanical, or related)
- Prior experience working within a holding company or large diversified group is highly preferred
- Demonstrated leadership in managing large commercial teams
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Profile
- Experience with large-scale infrastructure, EPC, or mixed-use developments
- Exposure to multi-entity or group-level commercial oversight
- Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels
