Job Overview
The Cost Analysis Engineer Fitout is responsible for preparing detailed cost analyses, estimates, and financial reports to support budgeting, tendering, cost control, and decision-making for fitout projects. The role bridges technical execution and commercial management to ensure accurate cost forecasting and financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimation & Analysis
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and cost breakdowns for fitout works based on drawings, specifications, BOQs, and market rates.
- Analyze costs related to materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and specialist trades.
- Develop comparative cost analyses for alternative materials, systems, and construction methods.
Budgeting & Cost Control
- Support preparation of project budgets and cost plans for fitout projects.
- Monitor actual costs against budgets and identify variances.
- Assist in forecasting final project costs and cash flow requirements.
Tendering & Pricing Support
- Support preparation of tender pricing, cost summaries, and commercial proposals.
- Analyze subcontractor and supplier quotations and prepare technicalcommercial comparisons.
- Provide cost input during bid clarifications and negotiations.
Value Engineering & Cost Optimization
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality, functionality, or compliance.
- Support value engineering initiatives and alternative proposals.
- Provide cost-benefit analyses to support management decisions.
Change & Variation Costing
- Analyze cost impacts of design changes, variations, and scope adjustments.
- Prepare cost assessments for variation submissions and claims.
- Maintain records of approved and pending cost changes.
Reporting & Financial Analysis
- Prepare cost reports, dashboards, and financial summaries for management review.
- Track cost trends, risks, and opportunities across fitout projects.
- Support monthly cost reporting and project reviews.
Coordination & Stakeholder Support
- Coordinate with quantity surveyors, project engineers, planners, and procurement teams to ensure cost accuracy.
- Support audits, commercial reviews, and management presentations.
- Maintain accurate cost databases and historical cost records.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure cost data and reports comply with company procedures and governance requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation for cost assumptions, analyses, and approvals.
Other Tasks and Accountabilities
- Perform additional tasks relevant to the role / area of expertise as requested by management to support project and organizational objectives.
- Support fast-track fitout projects and critical commercial deadlines.
- Assist in development of cost benchmarks and pricing standards.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, quality, and environmental management procedures and controls in line with IMS standards.
Position Requirements
Education, Experience & Professional Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management Experience:
- Minimum 58 years of experience in cost analysis, estimation, or commercial roles within fitout or construction projects
- Cost engineering or quantity surveying certification (preferred)
