Job Description

Protect transportation margin and strengthen decision-making through accurate job costing, billing readiness, forecasts, profitability analysis and actionable management insights. Lead controls, reconciliations, performance reporting and cost improvement. Partner with Operations, Commercial, Procurement and Finance; contract ownership and statutory accounting remain with the relevant functions.

Responsibilities

  • Validate customer and supplier rates against approved contracts; flag deviations and margin risks.
  • Own job-cost completeness by shipment, job and material, including accruals and cost allocation.
  • Coordinate timely customer billing and supplier invoice capture; resolve workflow exceptions.
  • Perform job-level ERP/TMS reconciliations and support accurate, timely month-end close.
  • Build budgets, forecasts and scenarios; explain rate, volume, mix, productivity and operational variances.
  • Analyze CM1, GP and OP performance by customer, lane, shipment, product and vendor.
  • Produce dashboards, trend and root-cause analysis with clear insights and recommended actions.
  • Lead profitability reviews, corrective actions, savings initiatives and benefit realization tracking.
  • Manage billing and cost disputes; escalate items beyond delegated authority.
  • Monitor unbilled revenue, open workflows and SO/PO gaps through closure.
  • Design and test controls, maintain evidence and support audit, compliance and data-quality reviews.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field
  • More than 5 years of experience
  • Relevant cost control, FP&A or management-accounting experience in logistics or transport
  • CMA, ACCA, CIMA or an analytics qualification preferred
  • Strong transportation-cost, profitability and P&L acumen
  • Advanced Excel; ERP/TMS and Power BI capability
  • SQL, data modeling and analytics capability preferred
  • Forecasting, scenario modeling and management-reporting skills
  • Controls, data-quality, compliance and audit discipline
  • Analytical storytelling, stakeholder influence and team leadership
