Job Description
The ideal candidate should have strong experience in fit-out, interior contracting, or joinery with a solid understanding of material costs, production costs, project budgets, variations, procurement, and cost forecasting.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed project cost control systems, budgets, and cost reports.
- Monitor actual project expenditure against approved budgets and committed costs.
- Track material, labor, production, subcontractor, and installation costs.
- Prepare regular cost reports highlighting budget variances, cost trends, and potential risks.
- Analyze project cost performance and recommend corrective actions where required.
- Monitor procurement costs, purchase orders, material consumption, and supplier/subcontractor commitments.
- Coordinate with Estimation, Procurement, Production, Planning, Quantity Surveying, and Project teams to ensure accurate cost monitoring.
- Review BOQs, estimates, budgets, and project scope to establish effective cost-control measures.
- Monitor and evaluate variations, additional works, and change orders, including their cost impact.
- Track material wastage, production efficiency, and resource utilization within the fit-out factory.
- Compare planned versus actual production costs and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
- Assist in preparing project cash-flow forecasts and cost-to-complete projections.
- Maintain accurate records of commitments, accruals, invoices, variations, and project expenditures.
- Prepare cost forecasts and provide early warnings on potential budget overruns.
- Analyze supplier and subcontractor quotations and support commercial evaluations when required.
- Conduct regular reconciliation of project costs with Finance and relevant project teams.
- Support value engineering and identify opportunities to reduce costs without compromising quality or project requirements.
- Prepare management reports and present key cost information to senior management.
- Ensure cost-control procedures are consistently followed throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist during project handover by ensuring all final costs, variations, and commitments are properly recorded and closed.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 5–8 years of relevant experience in cost control, preferably within fit-out, interior contracting, or joinery.
- UAE or GCC experience is mandatory.
- Strong understanding of fit-out manufacturing and project cost management.
- Experience monitoring material, labor, production, subcontractor, and installation costs.
- Good knowledge of BOQs, budgets, variations, procurement, and cost forecasting.
- Strong proficiency in MS Excel and cost-control/reporting systems.
- Experience with ERP systems and project management software is an advantage.
- Ability to analyze large volumes of financial and project data accurately.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
