We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cost Control Lead to join our team for a site-based position in Qatar Ras Laffan. The successful candidate will be responsible for budget management, monitoring actual expenditures, cost analysis for EPC projects, particularly within the Energy and Oil & Gas sectors, and reporting project costs while ensuring alignment with budgets and financial objectives. The role will be based at the project site in Qatar and requires close coordination with project management and other project stakeholders. Familiarity with ERP systems is preferred. Knowledge of Yapıtaşı ERP will be considered an advantage but is not a mandatory requirement.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish, implement, and maintain cost control systems and procedures for ongoing projects.
- Monitor project budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts to ensure alignment with contractual and corporate requirements.
- Extract reports from ERP systems, organize data in Excel, and prepare consolidated cost control reports.
- Distribute project budgets across cost codes, maintain and update cost code definitions, and ensure accurate allocation of costs.
- Prepare and present cost reports, variance analyses, and cash flow projections to management.
- Support project managers in identifying potential cost overruns and developing corrective action plans.
- Review and validate purchase orders, subcontracts, invoices, and change orders for cost tracking.
- Coordinate with planning, procurement, and finance teams to ensure consistent and accurate cost data.
- Support monthly and quarterly financial closing activities, including cost accruals and reconciliations.
- Assist in the development of cost benchmarks, historical data, and lessons learned for future projects.
- Develop and maintain a cost and man-hour information database and benchmarking data.
- Develop and maintain the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) for the project.
- Advise project leadership of potential cost issues in a timely manner to enable mitigation and the implementation of corrective and recovery plans.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or a related discipline) or Project Management.
- Typically, 10+ years of experience in project cost control, cost allocation, estimating, and financial tracking, preferably within EPC Oil & Gas, refinery, or energy projects.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Power BI, and other analytical tools; ERP system experience is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Yapıtaşı ERP is a plus.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills in English (both written and spoken).
