Job Description

Job Summary

The Cost Control Team Lead is responsible for leading the cost control function within the steel manufacturing plant by monitoring production costs, analyzing cost variances, supporting budgeting and forecasting activities, and ensuring accurate product costing. The role works closely with Production, Supply Chain, Procurement, Maintenance, and Finance to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the Cost Control team, ensuring timely and accurate completion of daily, weekly, and monthly tasks.
  • Prepare and maintain standard costing for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods.
  • Analyze production costs including: Raw Materials - Scrap - Energy Consumption - Direct Labor - Manufacturing Overheads.
  • Perform variance analysis (Material, Labor, Overhead, Yield, and Production Efficiency).
  • Monitor actual manufacturing costs against budget and investigate significant deviations.
  • Prepare monthly cost reports and management dashboards.
  • Support month-end closing activities related to inventory valuation and cost accounting.
  • Coordinate with Production and Operations teams to improve cost efficiency and optimize resource utilization.
  • Review Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routing structures to ensure costing accuracy.
  • Analyze inventory movements, stock adjustments, slow-moving, and obsolete inventory.
  • Participate in annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
  • Develop and maintain cost models for existing and new products.
  • Recommend cost reduction initiatives while maintaining product quality and operational standards.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
  • Support internal and external audit requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Cost Control function.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Cost Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CMA, CPA, or ACCA are an advantage.
  • 6–10 years of experience in Cost Accounting or Cost Control, with at least 2–3 years in a leadership role.
  • Previous experience in Steel Manufacturing, Heavy Industry, or Process Manufacturing is highly preferred.
