JOB PURPOSE / ROLE:
To monitor and manage counterparty credit risk activities according to the banks policies and procedures and comply with all requirements.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Policies, Processes & Procedures
- Follow all regulations, policies, processes, procedures in place and provides instructions to subordinates and monitor their performance so that work is carried out in a controlled manner
- Strengthen the control governance framework for Treasury / Market & Counterparty Risk activities, ensuring robust documentation, approvals, and audit-ready evidence across processes.
- Contribute to drafting, enhancing, and maintaining Treasury Risk related policies and limit governance standards to ensure strong control governance and framework.
Day- to-day operations
- Provide senior oversight of day-to-day activities and deliverables assigned to the function; ensure consistent compliance with policies/procedures and timely resolution of operational exceptions.
- Ensure risk exposures (market and counterparty risk, where applicable) are computed for Treasury activity and are accurately attributed to approved limits as defined by limit packs / limit governance standards; drive timely escalation of breaches.
Exposure Derivative Calculation
- Own and continuously enhance pre-settlement risk exposure methodologies across IR/FX/Equity/Commodity/Credit (e.g., add-on factors, Monte Carlo simulation for EPE/EE/PFE), ensuring methodological soundness and transparent governance. Compute exposure at default in line with Basel SA-CCR requirements for internal and external exposure reporting. Provide expert input to limit setting during new product approval and complex deal onboarding, including risk-reward assessment and appropriate pre-settlement limit recommendations. Enhance counterparty credit risk methodologies applied in the bank
Treasury Credit Risk monitoring
- Provide independent oversight of exposures versus approved limits; ensure high-quality monitoring, timely escalation of breaches, and clear articulation of key risk drivers/movements to senior stakeholders. Oversee the efficiency and integrity of systems/tools used for limit monitoring and exposure reporting; identify deficiencies, sponsor enhancements, and ensure sustainable controls. Ensure all transactions are accurately captured in limit monitoring/risk systems and that reconciliations and exception management are performed to a high standard. Develop a contingency plan to ensure business continuity with all system when/where if necessary and updated quarterly and work alongside with the working group for each quarterly test
- Prepare portfolio reviews and exposure summaries for senior management forums/committees as required (e.g., ALCO / Board Risk committees)
Customers Credit Inquiries
- Act as senior point of contact to support Treasury Front Office on pre-deal exposure assessment against limits; provide timely, well-reasoned challenge and decision support for complex/structured transactions.
- Proactively highlight key risks from a Market/Counterparty Credit Risk perspective within business/investment proposals and recommend mitigants/structuring alternatives where appropriate.
Derivative Valuations
- Oversee booking of structured products in internal/third-party systems to ensure correct valuations and risk capture. Reporting exotic structured products not captured by system correctly to Saudi Arabia Trade Repository /SIMAH on daily basis (Regulatory Reporting)
- Ensure independent review and challenge of valuation outputs versus counterparty valuations; govern valuation discrepancies and ensure escalation/dispute resolution where required. Providing Clients MTM valuations (on request) for FX, IR, Equity, commodity and credit derivatives
Credit Compliance
- Supports the assessment of credit proposals compliance with the credit processes, procedures and regulations, in order to enhance the management of risk to all corporate and financial institutions
- Reviewing and monitoring of treasury transactions as per the risk policies of the bank
Collateral Management (IM, VM) – CSA /GMRA/ Cleared
- Ensure all new CSAs / collateral agreements are executed in line with the collateral management policy, with strong legal/ops/risk coordination. Oversight on capturing of all CSA related information in the credit systems/ treasury limit management system
- Provide the subject matter expertise on derivative valuation and margin computation to Treasury operations and assist with any ad hoc and technical queries.
System Enhancement
- Act as a key stakeholder for risk systems implementation/enhancements; define critical path and milestones, and ensure delivery within a framework of strong governance and control requirements. Ensure upgrades are tested thoroughly (including UAT sign-offs), data lineage and controls are maintained during technical transitions, and key risks/delays are escalated to senior management in a timely manner.
- Assisting and assuring risk monitoring tools are integrated correctly with treasury related projects.
Direction of Subordinates
- Lead, coach, and performance-manage the team to deliver high-quality outputs; set clear objectives, ensure procedural compliance, and develop capability/bench strength.
- Build a strong risk culture, ensuring appropriate challenge, independent judgement, and disciplined escalation across the team.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive continuous improvement across systems, processes, and methodologies, incorporating international best practice; deliver measurable improvements in control effectiveness, turnaround times, and productivity.
- Proactively analyze the operating environment to identify trends that may alter the risk profile; recommend enhancements to identification/measurement/reporting to improve transparency and management action.
Reporting
- Provide senior oversight of departmental risk reporting to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and clarity for stakeholders. Review and challenge reports for senior management/Board committees; ensure key drivers, movements, limit utilizations, and concerns are clearly articulated and supported by data.
- Oversee production and review of key market & counterparty credit risk outputs where applicable.
Committees and Meetings
- Represent the function and actively contribute in internal/external committees and working groups within delegated authority; provide clear, independent risk views and ensure actions are tracked to closure.
- Prepare and present portfolio reviews/exposure summaries to relevant senior management and escalate material issues promptly.
People Management
- Ensures all staff have clear objectives, regular performance feedback sessions, formal annual appraisals, and individual development plans, with particular emphasis on the development of talented Saudi national staff
- Ensures and facilitates the employment, training and development of Saudi nationals within the organization
Safety, Quality & Environment
- Complies with all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Business Administration, preferably at a postgraduate level
Minimum Experience:
- 10+ years of relevant experience in Counterparty Credit Risk including 5 in positions of progressively increasing managerial responsibilities
Language:
Technical Knowledge areas:
- Excellent Knowledge of credit analysis, Risk Management and Control.
- Excellent knowledge of Treasury products including complex derivatives and structured products valuations.
- Excellent Knowledge of the market and counterparty credit risk measurement methodologies and practices, procedures and systems.
- Excellent knowledge of the pricing and risk mathematical models, including the model governance, validation and model risk frameworks
- Excellent knowledge of the Basel principles, local regulatory frameworks with respect to RWA and capital computations.
- Excellent knowledge of operation risk management principles, regulatory requirements and relevant industry standards
- Very Good Knowledge of the Banks credit policies, relevant laws, SAMA and Basel regulations.
- Preferable to have FRM/CFA certifications.
