The Role

We are seeking an experienced Credit Control Officer to manage customer credit accounts, monitor outstanding receivables, conduct collection activities, resolve payment issues, and support effective credit-risk management.

The ideal candidate will combine strong financial discipline with professional customer communication to ensure invoices are collected on time, overdue balances are actively managed, disputes are resolved efficiently, and customer credit exposure remains within approved limits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage assigned customer accounts and monitor outstanding receivable balances.
  • Review customer account balances, payment histories, credit terms, and aging profiles.
  • Monitor overdue invoices and prioritize collection activities based on risk, value, and aging.
  • Contact customers by email, telephone, and approved communication channels regarding outstanding balances.
  • Issue professional payment reminders and collection notices in accordance with established procedures.
  • Follow up systematically on overdue invoices and outstanding commitments.
  • Maintain accurate records of all collection activities, customer communications, promises to pay, and dispute status.
  • Monitor customer payment commitments and follow up on missed or delayed promises.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and investigate discrepancies between invoices, payments, credit notes, and account balances.
  • Identify unapplied cash, unidentified receipts, duplicate payments, and other account discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with Accounts Receivable teams to ensure customer payments are accurately allocated.
  • Investigate disputed invoices and work with Billing, Sales, Commercial, Operations, and Customer Service teams to resolve underlying issues.
  • Track customer disputes from initial identification through resolution and closure.
  • Ensure valid disputes are escalated appropriately and unsupported disputes are challenged professionally.
  • Monitor credit limits and payment terms for assigned customers.
  • Identify customers approaching or exceeding approved credit limits.
  • Escalate significant credit exposures, persistent overdue balances, and high-risk accounts to management.
  • Support customer credit reviews using payment history, financial information, trading behavior, and internal risk indicators.
  • Recommend appropriate credit-control actions based on customer risk and payment performance.
  • Support the implementation of credit holds, account restrictions, or other controls in accordance with approved policies.
  • Coordinate with Sales and Commercial teams before releasing credit holds or extending customer payment terms.
  • Monitor adherence to approved credit terms and identify unauthorized extensions or exceptions.
  • Review customer account activity for unusual payment behavior or emerging credit risks.
  • Maintain accurate customer credit-control records and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare regular aged-debt reports and collection-status reports.
  • Analyze aging trends by customer, account, business unit, geography, or risk category.
  • Identify high-value, long-outstanding, and potentially uncollectible receivables.
  • Support bad-debt reviews, provisions, write-offs, and expected-credit-loss assessments where applicable.
  • Prepare recommendations for escalation of seriously overdue accounts.
  • Coordinate with Legal on accounts requiring formal recovery action or legal escalation.
  • Support external collection agencies or recovery partners where approved.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation for collection actions and escalations.
  • Monitor collection performance against assigned targets and service-level requirements.
  • Develop and maintain collection schedules and daily follow-up plans.
  • Prioritize collection activities according to customer risk, balance size, aging, and payment behavior.
  • Support cash-flow improvement by accelerating overdue receivable collections.
  • Work with Treasury and Accounts Receivable teams to ensure timely identification and allocation of customer receipts.
  • Review customer statements and provide supporting documentation when requested.
  • Respond professionally to customer inquiries regarding account balances, invoices, payments, and credit terms.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships while enforcing company credit and collection policies.
  • Ensure all collection communications are accurate, professional, consistent, and appropriately documented.
  • Ensure customer information and financial data are handled confidentially.
  • Comply with applicable internal credit policies, financial controls, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate segregation of duties and approval controls in credit-management activities.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing customer account records, collection documentation, reconciliations, and supporting evidence.
  • Identify recurring causes of delayed payment and recommend corrective actions.
  • Work with Billing and Commercial teams to reduce invoice errors and prevent avoidable payment delays.
  • Support improvements to billing, dispute-resolution, credit-control, and collection processes.
  • Assist with automation and optimization of collection workflows, customer reminders, dashboards, and reporting.
  • Maintain accurate records in ERP, accounts-receivable, credit-management, and customer-management systems.
  • Prepare management reports covering aging, collections, overdue exposure, disputes, credit risk, and cash-recovery performance.
  • Escalate significant collection risks, customer insolvency concerns, and material credit exposures promptly.
  • Contribute to continuous-improvement initiatives that strengthen cash collection and reduce credit risk.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate should have strong experience in credit control, accounts receivable, collections, credit management, finance operations, or customer-account management, preferably within a commercial, multinational, professional-services, technology, retail, logistics, or service-oriented organization.
