Summary:
Processing and clearance of Manual Customs documentation within the shortest possible/agreed time frame. Ensure on-time shipping document dispatch and collection from vendors and clients. Ability to scrutinize and understand customs-related documentation requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform and implement all custom clearance activities such as following upcoming Shipment, documents transactions, and day-to-day related activities in accordance with the customer&aposs SOP.
- Examining invoices and shipping manifests, and other commercial documents for conformity to tariff and customs regulations.
- Following up with the transporter(s) to ensure on time & complete delivery of cleared shipments, and keeping records of all demurrages, detentions, etc., and follow up with the concerned customer for settlements, and implement preventive actions to avoid customs penalties.
- Participating in the development of the Customs Clearance Section&aposs work plan and preparing work schedules and expediting workflow to improve the efficiency of the Customs Clearance Section.
- Request and get approval for payment of Customs Duty on non-exempted items. Forward the advance payment requests to Accounts for releasing the cheque.
- Ensure timely pick up of documents and correct execution of Customs Documentation and ensure that Delivery Order tally according to the B/L.
- Ensure that all amounts paid and received are in accordance with the instructions from the operation department.
- Ensure daily submission of receipts to Operations for cash reimbursement with Accounts.
- Provide suggestions to the management on continuous improvements of processes and service levels to save time and add customer value to our products.
- Relationship building with the Port, Customs, Municipality, and other related authorities.
- Regular updation of the online customs portal and processing of import/export documentation online wherever required.
Qualification:
Educational Background
High School/ Diploma or equivalent.
Related Work Experience & Skills
- Minimum of 1 year in Freight Customs clearance / Operations Management (preferably within the UAE.).
- Excellent knowledge about customs clearance procedures.
- Observing all traffic rules on prescribed routes to ensure safe delivery of documents and goods.
- Good Client Relations and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in English and Hindi-Arabic would be an advantage.
- A light vehicle driver&aposs license is required.
