About the Role
Cutting Machine Operator operates and maintains cutting machines to ensure accurate and efficient cutting of raw materials according to production specifications and safety standards. The Cutting Machine Operator plays a key role in achieving daily production targets while maintaining quality, machine upkeep, and workplace safety.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate cutting machines (e.g., laser, plasma, CNC, die-cutting, or blade cutters) according to work orders and technical drawings.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and cutting layouts to ensure precise dimensions and material usage.
- Adjust machine settings (speed, blade, tension, depth, etc.) to achieve required cuts and quality standards.
- Perform pre-operation checks and routine maintenance (cleaning, lubricating, replacing worn tools) to ensure machine readiness.
- Monitor the cutting process and inspect materials to detect defects or deviations from specifications.
- Ensure the correct type, thickness, and quality of material is used as per production requirements.
- Follow health, safety, and environmental procedures, including the use of PPE and machine safety protocols.
- Log daily production data, machine output, material usage, and report discrepancies or machine issues to the supervisor.
- Collaborate with warehouse and QA teams for material movement and quality verification.
- Minimize material wastage through efficient cutting and nesting practices.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce downtime.
- Participate in performance evaluations, including appraisals, KPI assessments, and development planning with team members within the department.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or vocational certificate in mechanical or technical fields (Preferred).
Experience
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in operating industrial cutting machines.
