Purpose of the Job

The D&T Planning Manager – Technology Strategy & Corporate is a senior role within the Technology Strategy & Corporate function, responsible for driving planning, governance, and financial management capabilities.

While the role is organizationally positioned within Technology Strategy & Corporate, it holds enterprise-wide accountability for D&T budgeting and Network Service Recharge (NSR) across the entire Digital & Technology function.

The role provides a single point of ownership for demand planning, portfolio planning, tracking and reporting, budgeting, forecasting, NSR, and resource planning, ensuring alignment between technology strategy, business priorities, financial discipline, and operational execution.

The overall purpose of this role is to enable strategic, financial, and operational control across Technology Strategy and Corporate by establishing robust planning, portfolio, and chargeback mechanisms.

Job Description

Customer:

  • Be highly proactive in capturing and analyzing the Technology requirements from corporate functions.
  • Provider regular and timely reports on Customers demand plan, progress and key risks and issue.
  • Prioritize and capture demand fully, to be able to feed into the delivery change.
  • Gather and analyze feedback from stakeholders to inform planning and decision-making.

People:

  • Work collaboratively within a matrix organization, engaging with D&T staff and corporate function leaders.
  • Work within the D&T planning community, driving adoption of best practice and standards.
  • Support the development and training of D&T staff by identifying skill gaps and facilitating learning opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment to enhance team performance.
  • Act as a mentor and advisor within the matrix organization to promote best practices and knowledge sharing.

Operations:

  • Own and operate the planning and portfolio management lifecycle for Technology Strategy & Corporate
  • Lead demand planning activities, translating strategic and corporate initiatives into a structured delivery portfolio
  • Establish and maintain portfolio governance, including prioritization, sequencing, dependencies, and delivery tracking
  • Define and maintain enterprise planning standards, templates, and reporting frameworks in line with industry best practices
  • Drive resource and capacity planning across internal teams and external partners to support approved demand
  • Identify and implement best practices to streamline D&T operations and improve efficiency across Technology Strategy and Corporate function.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine D&T processes to enhance productivity, reduce downtime, and optimize resource utilization.
  • Ensure timely and effective delivery of D&T services and support to corporate functions, adhering to service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Develop and manage a robust incident management process to quickly address and resolve D&T issues, minimizing impact on business operations.
  • Develop and deliver regular reports on demand plan, heath of projects pipeline, operational performance, system uptime, and key operational metrics to senior management and stakeholders.

Financial Result:

  • Own the D&T budget across the entire Digital & Technology function, including annual planning, forecasting, and variance management
  • Design, operate, and continuously improve the Network Service Recharge (NSR) framework across all countries
  • Ensure NSR accurately reflects:
  • Nature of spend (run vs. change, CAPEX vs. OPEX)
  • Licensing and subscription models
  • Service consumption and usage-based cost drivers
  • Partner closely with Finance to ensure alignment with accounting policies, cost allocation rules, and financial controls
  • Track and report on D&T financial performance, including budget adherence, recharge accuracy, and cost optimization opportunities
  • Support long-term financial planning, multi-year investment roadmaps, and scenario analysis
  • Coordinate the Budget planning Cycle for the function.
  • Act as budget custodian – ensuring tracking the budget for Corporate functions – both Capex and Opex to ensure delivery on time, in full, on budget.
  • Track the proposed benefit for each demand item to ensure benefits are harvested on delivery.
Job Requirements - Experience and Education
  • 10–15 years of experience in D&T planning, technology finance, portfolio management, or technology strategy roles
  • Proven experience operating at a senior, enterprise level within a complex, global organization
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
  • Technology budgeting and forecasting
  • Cost allocation and chargeback models (NSR or equivalent)
  • Understanding of technology cost structures, licensing, and service consumption
  • Demand, portfolio, and capacity planning
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and influence senior leadership and executive stakeholders
  • Experience working closely with Finance and Corporate Strategy functions
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field
  • MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification is highly desirable
  • Certifications in IT Financial Management, Portfolio Management, SAFe, COBIT, or similar frameworks are an advantage
