Role Overview:
- Critical hybrid technical role combining infrastructure virtualization, enterprise data engineering, and database administration.
- Responsible for end-to-end management of Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) and mission-critical Oracle databases on Linux.
- Leads large-scale enterprise data management initiatives and supports domain repositories through Prosource (Corporate Subsurface Data Store).
Key Responsibilities:
Infrastructure & Virtualization
- Architect, deploy, and manage virtual machines using VMware vSphere.
- Administer compute and storage resources within a Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) environment.
- Monitor, optimize, and maintain virtualized infrastructure performance and availability.
Systems Administration & Architecture
- Deploy, configure, and maintain enterprise applications and databases on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
- Evaluate, design, and optimize compute architectures, including CPUs and GPUs, to meet deployment and performance requirements.
- Perform system maintenance, upgrades, patching, and troubleshooting.
Database Administration
- Manage, monitor, and optimize large-scale Oracle databases in Linux environments.
- Ensure database performance, security, availability, backup, and recovery.
- Support database upgrades, migrations, and capacity planning.
Data Engineering & Management
- Design, build, and optimize database views, triggers, stored procedures, and complex SQL queries.
- Manage schemas and ensure efficient data flow across enterprise systems.
- Drive data quality, integrity, and performance improvement initiatives.
Repository Management
- Administer large-scale enterprise data repositories with a focus on Prosource (Corporate Subsurface Data Store).
- Ensure high availability, scalability, performance, and reliability of data environments.
- Support management of domain-specific datasets, including subsurface and geological data.
Networking & Security
- Apply networking concepts including TCP/IP, SSH, and VPN technologies.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity and performance issues.
- Maintain secure communication channels and infrastructure security standards.
Required Experience & Skills (Must Have):
- Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in:
- Infrastructure management
- Database administration
- Data engineering
- Bachelor's degree in:
- Computer Science, or
- Computer Engineering
- Deep expertise in:
- VMware vSphere
- End-to-end HCI management (compute and storage)
- Advanced Linux administration skills, particularly:
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
- Strong Oracle database administration experience, including:
- Performance tuning
- Schema management
- Database optimization
- Practical data engineering experience:
- Building views
- Creating triggers
- Developing and optimizing SQL queries
- Solid understanding of:
- Compute architecture sizing
- CPU/GPU resource planning
- Enterprise networking fundamentals
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to:
- Coordinate with hardware and software vendors
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues
- Plan maintenance windows
- Deploy critical patches and upgrades
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: Official certifications in core technologies are highly desired (e.g., VMware VCP, Oracle OCP, Red Hat RHCSA/RHCE).
- Domain Expertise: Previous exposure to the energy industry, specifically understanding domain data types (e.g., wells, well logs, seismic data).
- Specialized Platforms: Hands on experience with Prosource managing complex, large scale data repositories
- Geospatial & Cloud: Basic understanding of ArcGIS and mapping technologies, alongside foundational enterprise cloud infrastructure knowledge.
