Data and AI Integration Engineer

In this role, you'll combine your skills in data engineering, AI integration, and solution deployment to transform complex defence data into real-time operational intelligence. You will not only design and implement data workflows that streamline integration across multiple systems but also configure, deploy, and support mission-critical solutions onsite to ensure operational success.

Beyond data, you'll play a key role in deploying and configuring world-class command-and-control systems. Working closely with customers and internal teams, you'll ensure seamless solution design, installation, and technical support, simplifying decision-making and enhancing operational readiness.

This role combines technical depth with strong stakeholder engagement. You'll collaborate directly with defence users to understand their challenges, translate requirements into solutions, and deliver measurable impact. Consultancy experience and a problem-solving mindset are essential.

Your key tasks will include:

• Provide hands-on onsite technical support during deployments, troubleshoot issues, and optimise configurations to meet operational needs
• Manage project tasks to ensure delivery on time, within scope, and aligned with quality standards
• Conduct training sessions for defence users on AI tools and integrated solutions, ensuring smooth adoption and effective use
• Ingest and synchronise data from external systems, ensuring smooth data flow and integrity for real-time or scheduled use
• Design and manage data pipelines using low-code/no-code tools and apply Python scripting for advanced transformations and automation
• Configure and connect software systems to enable interoperability and reliable data exchange
• Incorporate AI/ML models into workflows for classification, prediction, and extracting insights from structured and unstructured data
• Create dashboards and reports that present complex data clearly and make it actionable for decision-makers
• Deploy and configure mission-critical command-and-control systems across land, sea, and air domains while ensuring compliance with security standards

Your qualifications

Technical skills:

• Experience with data integration tools such as NodeRed or Apache Nifi
• Familiarity with APIs and AI services for data processing tasks
• Knowledge of JSON, XML, and other data formats
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) is a plus

Professional experience:

• Proven experience in a data integration or system integration/engineering role
• Experience within the military or government sectors is an advantage
• Strong consultancy or customer-facing experience

Education:

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field
