About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Physical Modeling Manager to lead our data architecture practice within the CTO Area, reporting to the Data Platform Management Head. This pivotal leadership role is responsible for overseeing the design, development, and governance of all enterprise-wide physical data models, ensuring performance, scalability, and strict alignment with business and regulatory requirements. You will manage a team of modelers and serve as the final authority on the structure and implementation of data across our entire banking ecosystem.
What You Will Do (Key Accountabilities)
- Leadership & Management: Lead and mentor a team of 4-12 Data Modelers, setting technical direction and enforcing best practices across the team.
- Model Strategy & Design: Take ownership of the physical modeling repository and define the standards, patterns, and metadata practices to be applied enterprise-wide.
- Governance & Compliance: Govern all physical data structures, ensuring they are consistently aligned with the logical models and business requirements, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance.
- Performance Optimization: Lead the optimization of physical models for superior performance, storage efficiency, and data retrieval speeds.
- Integration Approval: Review and approve all modeling changes, ensuring seamless integration with ETL/ELT processes, Data Warehouse (DWH), and the overall Data Platform.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage extensively with Data Architecture, Data Engineering, Governance, and infrastructure teams to ensure model usability and system compatibility.
- External Liaison: Liaise with modeling tool vendors, enterprise solution partners, and regulatory advisors to ensure our physical models adhere to external standards and best-in-class solutions.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Experience: 8-10 years of total experience in Data Modeling, with a minimum of 3+ years in a dedicated leadership or enterprise modeling capacity.
- Technical Expertise: Deep hands-on experience in data modeling and database design, particularly in translating logical models to performant physical structures.
- Tools: Expertise with industry-leading modeling tools such as ER/Studio, ERwin, or SAP PowerDesigner.
- Core Skills: Strong proficiency in SQL, database performance tuning, normalization/denormalization strategies, and a strong understanding of Data Warehousing concepts.
- Soft Skills: Demonstrated leadership, strategic thinking, strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and exceptional communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
