Job Title: Data Center Electrical Engineer

Position Reports to: Data Center Facility Manager

Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

SUMMARY: Responsible for safely, efficiently, and effectively operating machinery and systems in a cost-effective manner. The Engineer must ensure the highest level of professionalism, while meeting the client needs, and a commitment to achieving the goal of no downtime. Responsible for protecting and improving the value of the client assets and ensuring that building engineering systems continue to perform their intended function. Perform installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical equipment, machinery, and controls located in the interior and exterior of building. Monitors operation and conducts a routine and on-going assessment of the building systems operations and performance. Performs tests, rounds and analyzes data to ensure the proper functioning of departmental equipment.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform the maintenance and operation of electrical building systems including: fire/life safety, electrical (lighting, UPS, PDU, generators, primary switchgear), cabling (data and voice, broad band), lighting, critical environments, digital systems (fire alarm, card access, CCTV), and Audio/Visual services. Utilize staff and make recommendations for contracting with outside vendors as necessary.
  • At the direction of supervisor, maintaining, monitoring and performing preventive maintenance and continuous operation of all building electrical systems including: Lighting, UPS, PDU, generators, primary switchgear, emergency backup systems; monitors operation, adjusts electrical equipment; record readings and make adjustments where necessary to ensure proper operation of equipment. Requires the ability to analyze the operations of various systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions, and take corrective action as required. Install and repair electrical components; wire single and three phase motors (single and two speed); run conduit; pull wiring to machinery, motors, operating parts, etc.; install motors; replace bearings in all types of motors and associated controls; assist other mechanics and operators with major repairs and maintenance of building and equipment. Install, repair, and maintain electrical controls, switching, and motor controls.
  • Strict adherence to Client established engineering guidelines, processes, and procedures.
  • Maintain effective communication with all external and internal customers, including Clients, Property & Project management, and Engineering staff.
  • Participate in emergency response and problem management. Respond to incidents and mitigate the damage. Obtain information on the cause of the problem. Ensure that escalation is performed per the escalation plan.
  • Perform preventive maintenance program. Specific duties include but are not limited to: Preventive maintenance with a minimum disruption of building services and performing and/or delegating preventive maintenance tasks to the appropriately qualified maintenance staff member.
  • Track the availability of an adequate operating inventory of tools and supplies.
  • Identify safety hazards within the building and incorporate the remediation of such hazards to ensure that the building's staff and occupants work in a safe environment. Implement, administer, and manage safety training program.
  • Ensure that compliance of all regulatory laws and guidelines are met as they relate to the operation of the building's infrastructure. Responsible for alerting management of building discrepancies.
  • Maintain all infrastructure and compliance documentation for the building including up-to-date building drawings and single-lines.
  • Oversee the activities of contractors working within the building either as representatives of the building itself or tenants operating within the buildings.
  • Responsible for keeping records of buildings rounds and readings, all engineering logs and engineering data sheets.
  • Ensure that the Change Management Process is carried out on the building's critical infrastructure.
  • Attend different time for shifts as per project requirements upon coordination with management.
  • Performs additional job duties as requested.

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
  • Should have certification from Saudi Council of Engineering
  • Data Center certificate is preferred
  • Knowledge in AutoCAD, DCIM and CAFM
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and building codes
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office environment including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Requires minimum of 06 years related experience
  • Must have hands-on experience in a data center/critical facility, including UPS Systems, emergency generators, and switchgear.
