For a very well-known multinational company located in Cairo, Egypt, a Data Center Engineer is needed.
Tasks and Duties
- Design and Architecture: Design and develop systems and networks to optimize data center operations and physical infrastructure.
- Installation and Maintenance: Supervise and perform installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of server hardware, network equipment (Servers, SAN Storage, SAN Switches, Tape Library, VCenter, AD, etc), and other related IT infrastructure.
- Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor system performance, diagnose complex hardware/software problems, and provide support to resolve incidents quickly.
- Capacity Planning and Optimization: Conduct capacity planning for power, cooling, space, and networking resources to ensure optimal usage and prevent bottlenecks.
- Process and Documentation: Develop, document, and maintain operational procedures, system configurations, and knowledge base articles, ensuring all processes are followed and documented accurately.
- Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Develop, implement, and test disaster recovery and backup solutions to ensure business continuity.
- Collaboration and Vendor Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., data scientists, cloud architects, facilities management) and liaise with third-party vendors for equipment and services
Qualifications
- Extensive practical experience in data center operations and infrastructure management (typically 4+ years in a data engineering or data center role).
- In-depth understanding of data center technologies, including networking (TCP/IP, switching/routing protocols), storage (SAN, NAS), compute, and virtualization (VMware ESXi, Hyper-V).
- Proficiency in server operating systems, such as Windows and Linux.
- Knowledge of physical infrastructure including power and cooling systems, racks, and cabling standards.
- Familiarity with data center monitoring and management tools (DCIM, etc.).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to quickly diagnose and resolve complex issues.
