Data Engineer

Senior Data Engineer – BigQuery / SQL / Spark

We're looking for a hands-on Senior Data Engineer to join a major data transformation programme, working closely with internal Data, Engineering and Business teams.

This is a delivery-focused role where you'll be working with existing production data pipelines, understanding end-to-end data flows and assessing the impact of changes across complex data environments.

This will be initially 1 year / Onsite in Dubai / Contract / Flexible Salary

What we're looking for:

• Strong hands-on Google BigQuery experience
• Expert-level SQL experience able to do complex queries, joins, CTEs, window functions and optimisation
• Strong Spark / PySpark fundamentals
• Production experience building and supporting ETL/ELT pipelines
• Ability to understand and explain complete data flows from source system → extraction → transformation → BigQuery → downstream consumers
• Strong impact analysis and dependency tracing experience
• Experience identifying downstream impacts across pipelines, tables, reports and application.
• Experience with schema migrations / data structure changes
• Strong regression testing experience
• Ability to estimate remediation effort and build prioritised, timeline-based delivery plans
• Strong documentation and version-control experience

We need someone who has worked hands-on with production data pipelines and can confidently explain the architecture, source-system extraction, ETL flows and dependencies behind solutions they've personally delivered.
