Required Skills & Competencies
Working knowledge of core data governance concepts, including ownership, stewardship, data definitions, metadata, standards, and data quality
Practical familiarity with data catalog, business glossary, metadata repository, or data dictionary concepts
Hands-on experience maintaining structured documentation, registers, trackers, and governance artifacts
Ability to capture and organize business terms, data definitions, data owners, data stewards, data domains, and related governance attributes
Working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, Confluence, Jira, or similar collaboration and documentation tools
Basic working knowledge of data quality, data lineage, data classification, and data lifecycle concepts
Ability to support workshops, interviews, and validation sessions with business and technical stakeholders
Strong written communication skills for meeting notes, governance summaries, issue logs, and structured documentation
Ability to follow defined governance methods, templates, naming standards, and documentation rules
Good stakeholder coordination and follow-up skills
Ability to identify missing, inconsistent, unclear, or conflicting governance information
Basic analytical thinking and ability to connect business language with data concepts
Responsibilities
Support the implementation and maintenance of data governance practices
Maintain data ownership, stewardship, data domain, and business glossary documentation
Capture and organize metadata, business definitions, data rules, and governance attributes
Support the development and maintenance of data governance policies, standards, procedures, and guidance documents
Maintain governance trackers, issue logs, decision logs, action logs, and stakeholder follow-up records
Support interviews, workshops, working groups, and governance discussions
Document meeting outcomes, decisions, risks, actions, and unresolved questions
Support data governance reporting, status packs, dashboards, and presentation materials
Assist in identifying gaps in ownership, definitions, metadata, standards, and governance adoption
Coordinate with business users and technical teams to validate data definitions, ownership, and governance information
Support adoption of data catalog, metadata, glossary, or governance tools
Support data quality, privacy, compliance, and analytics teams with governance-related documentation
Prepare clean, structured, and reusable governance materials for handover and ongoing use
Escalate unclear ownership, conflicting definitions, missing information, or unresolved actions to the Data Governance Specialist
The Data Governance Analyst is a practical execution role. The role is not expected to design the full governance strategy independently, but it is essential for making governance information accurate, organized, maintained, and usable.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Information Management, Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Arabic and English are mandatory.
2–4+ years of experience in data governance, business analysis, data analysis, metadata management, reporting, data quality, compliance support, documentation, or transformation initiatives.
Experience supporting workshops, maintaining structured documentation, managing trackers, and coordinating with business and technical stakeholders is preferred.
