Key responsibilities:
- Design, configure and administer Microsoft Purview data-governance capabilities.
- Implement data discovery, cataloguing, classification and end-to-end lineage across enterprise data platforms.
- Configure the Microsoft Purview Data Map, collections, data sources, scans and scanning rule sets.
- Build and maintain business glossaries, data domains, ownership structures and metadata standards.
- Integrate Microsoft Purview with Azure data services and relevant on-premises platforms.
- Establish automated metadata ingestion and classification processes.
- Map technical and business lineage across data pipelines, databases, lakehouses and analytics platforms.
- Implement governance controls for sensitive and regulated data.
- Design and maintain access-governance models, including RBAC, least-privilege access and approval workflows.
- Partner with data owners and stewards to improve data discoverability, accountability and quality.
- Support privacy, security, compliance and audit requirements across the data lifecycle.
- Monitor platform adoption, scanning coverage, metadata completeness and governance KPIs.
- Troubleshoot connectivity, scanning, integration and lineage issues.
- Produce technical documentation, governance standards, operating procedures and training materials.
Mandatory requirements:
- 5-8+ years of relevant experience in data engineering, data platforms, data governance or metadata management.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview Data Governance, including cataloguing, lineage and classification.
- Experience configuring Purview collections, scans, data sources, credentials and integration runtimes.
- Strong knowledge of metadata management, business glossaries, data ownership and stewardship.
- Experience integrating governance capabilities with Azure data services.
- Practical experience working across hybrid data environments, including cloud and on-premises sources.
- Strong understanding of data access governance, RBAC and least-privilege principles.
- Strong SQL knowledge and an understanding of modern data architecture.
Desirable experience:
- Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics or Azure Databricks.
- Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL and lakehouse platforms.
- Purview integration with Power BI or other analytics tools.
- Self-hosted integration runtime and private-network connectivity.
- Microsoft Entra ID, managed identities, private endpoints and Azure Key Vault.
- Experience with Collibra, Informatica, Alation, Unity Catalog or similar governance platforms.
- Experience supporting AI, machine-learning or advanced-analytics platforms.
- Previous experience establishing governance standards within a Center of Excellence.
Why consider this opportunity
- Join a newly established technology Delivery Hub at an early and influential stage.
- Help build a regional Center of Excellence for AI and advanced analytics.
- Shape the data-governance platform and operating standards from the ground up.
- Collaborate with international data, AI, security and business teams.
Please note: this position focuses on Microsoft Purview's data-governance capabilities—including Data Map, Data Catalog, lineage, scanning and metadata management—rather than solely Microsoft 365 DLP, eDiscovery or information protection.
