Data Migration Consultant
Experience Level: 8–12 years (Senior)
Overview As the Senior Data Migration Consultant, you will be responsible about full lifecycle of data migration from legacy data sources to new modern Databases and Microsoft Fabric. You will own and manage data engineering, mapping, transformation, cleansing, validation, and cutover execution using Azure Data Factory and related tools, ensuring data integrity, completeness, and minimal business disruption.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end data migration strategy, planning, execution, and validation for oracle and SQL sources.
- Design and operate large-scale data engineering pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF), including mapping, transformation, cleansing, enrichment, and loading.
- Perform source data profiling, gap analysis, data quality assessment, and cleansing rule definition.
- Build complex workflows (ADF pipelines, mapping data flows, Databricks if needed) for batch and incremental migration.
- Manage cutover planning, downtime minimization, validation, reconciliation, and rollback procedures.
- Handle data (masking, encryption) and ensure compliance during migration.
- Data migration testing (volume, accuracy, completeness) and stakeholder sign-off.
Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years in large-scale enterprise data migration projects
- 5+ years hands-on with Azure Data Factory, SSMA (SQL Server Migration Assistant), DMA (Database Migration Assessment)
- Strong expertise in data mapping, transformation, cleansing, and validation at scale
- Proven experience migrating databases to Azure SQL
- Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Certifications
- Certified in Azure Data services
- Experience with CDC tools (advantage)
