Job Summary
The Data Scientist will design and implement advanced analytics and data integration solutions, supporting predictive modeling, forecasting, and optimization projects within regulated and public-sector environments.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement data integration and advanced analytics solutions using structured and unstructured data to support mission-critical initiatives
- Manage end-to-end analytics project lifecycles, including requirement gathering, data scoping, modeling, deployment, and monitoring
- Lead or facilitate workshops with business and technical stakeholders to translate business needs into analytical, data, and success metric specifications
- Facilitate project meetings and workshops with client stakeholders to ensure alignment and progress
- Propose, implement, and validate data science models meeting functional and non-functional requirements such as explainability, fairness, scalability, security, integration, and operational cost efficiency
- Participate in software development lifecycle activities, including documentation of requirements and code, adhering to best practices
- Produce high-quality, client-ready deliverables and documentation with actionable insights
- Independently drive assigned modules or workstreams with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
- Prepare user requirements, data development artifacts, and technical documentation compliant with governance and audit standards
- Research client business contexts, industry trends, and public sector ecosystems to maintain relevant expertise
- Develop reusable project assets such as templates, analytical frameworks, processes, reports, and presentation materials
Required competencies and certifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Analytics, or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of experience in data analytics and data science
- Proven skills in data processing, feature selection, hyper-parameter optimization, model validation, and visualization
- Proficient in AWS SageMaker and Python libraries such as Pandas, NumPy/SciPy, Scikit-Learn, XGBoost, and pyspark
- Strong SQL skills with experience handling relational data models and large datasets
- Experience in production software engineering practices including test-driven development, Git version control, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with object-oriented programming concepts applied to data science pipelines
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Experience with Agentic AI/Generative AI solutions, including Large Language Models (LLM), Retrieval-Augmented Generation, knowledge assistants, document intelligence, and conversational analytics
- Hands-on experience in data engineering tasks such as data ingestion, transformation, pipeline development, and working with data platforms or warehouses
- Demonstrated ability to engage business stakeholders and lead analytics requirement workshops to translate complex problems into actionable data solutions
- Prior experience supporting government or public-sector projects (e.g., MINDEF or related agencies)
- Candidates holding or eligible for MSD Security Clearance (CAT 1) preferred
