Job Description
Role Description This part-time, remote Database Administrator role is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's databases that support internal operations and member services. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring database performance, ensuring data integrity and security, performing backups and restores, and managing user access. The role involves designing and optimizing database structures, implementing replication and redundancy strategies, and troubleshooting database-related issues in collaboration with technical and business stakeholders. The Database Administrator will document configurations and procedures, support data migration projects, and contribute to continuous improvement of data management practices. The role requires clear communication with cross-functional teams and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving potential risks.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Database Administration and practical experience working with production Databases.
- Proficiency in Database Design, including schema optimization and data modeling.
- Ability to manage Replication, backup, and recovery strategies to ensure high availability and data resilience.
- Advanced Troubleshooting skills for diagnosing performance issues, query bottlenecks, and configuration problems.
- Experience with common relational database management systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or similar).
- Understanding of database security, access control, and compliance best practices.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage part-time hours effectively, and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Relevant degree or equivalent professional experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Experience in associations, non-profit organizations, or the construction industry is an advantage but not required.
