JOB PURPOSE:
Provide database management services by analysing and evaluating the project and service requirements in order to design, implement, maintain and optimize corporate database systems while maintaining the integrity and security of the Bank's database.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Database Administration
- Design and support various business critical RMS (Sybase, Oracle & SQL server) environments including Technical Project Management, Architecture and new setups.
- Instantly respond and support production. Installation, upgrade and maintenance of databases. Pro-active monitoring, tuning, configuring server.
- Support all day-to-day A tasks. Schema Migration and Query tuning.
- Primary support for SAP Sybase ASE and SAP replication server (warm stany setup) along with Microsoft SQL Server support.
- Database support and administration in terms of Incident, Change and Release Management from Development to Production Environments to follow change management process.
- Perform health checks and monitor checks/alerts on all systems proactively.
- Prepare all required setup, SOP's and DR/BCP documents.
- Prepare scripts (UNIX shell/windows PowerShell) for various tasks automation.
- Familiar to use various administrative tools (Artisan/Idera tool box/TOAD).
- Ensure database licenses compliance as per license agreement and maintain inventory/asset management portal.
- Contact database vendor for technical support for all critical/stack errors.
- Disaster Recovery Management/workload automation product (ONE Automation) support.
- Evaluate server for new setups along with recommended server patches, size estimation and resource allocation to setup/configure new database instances in all environments (prod/dev/test/DR)
- Monitor and check various daily alert configured for ASE server log, backup server log, overall sybase performance and space used by each database.
- Monitor and check various daily alert configured for RSE server log, RSSD server log, overall Replication server performance and latency if any.
- Run cc on all databases regularly (weekly) to ensure database consistency, and follow up/fix any corruption problems found.
- Maintain new instance/database naming conventions as per bank standards.
- Perform regular entitlement review with IT Security for privileged access review and corrections.
- Ensure staging environment readiness before business starts for Business Objects reporting.
- Make sure all logins/passwords get synchronized with DR at least once in a day.
- Install and configure Replication Server, create and modify table and function replication definitions, subscriptions, maintain and monitor database connections, process rejected transactions.
- Prepare/review DR switchover/switchback procedure and record corrective majors.
- MSQL creation, configuration and maintenance of database as per best practice.
- Configure/maintain/monitor database mirroring with DR databases.
- Query optimization and analysing the response time of the queries.
- Reviewing database structure for better enhancement.
- Responsible for performance and tuning of the servers.
- Monitor availability of the server, disk free space and ensure database backups are scheduled for all databases and review jobs execution status.
- Monitor replication/stany server performance and make sure stany is in sync with production.
- Monitor space used for each database, overall database instance performance and all server error logs for messages indicating problems.
- Responsible for real time database monitoring/mirroring and attend warning (email).
- Monthly entitlement reviews for keeping track of Inactive accounts .
- Regularly review the possibility for SQL server consolidation (VM/Instance) for effective license usage.
- Apply patches with the help of vendor certification for new patch released to avoid running unsupported build/end of life SQL server version..
- Restore full schema/tables from export dump based on request.
- Perform regular deployment referring to change management process.
- Clone E-business DEV/UAT environment (apps & database) request referring to SOP.
- Support OTG (Oracle transparent gateway) for heterogeneous interface with Oracle database.
MIS and Reports
- Coordinates the preparation of timely and accurate functional statements and reports to meet functional requirements, policies and standards.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures, Information Security
- Perform all relevant policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions including awareness, understanding and undertaking of information security policy so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.
Related Assignments

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information System, Computer Science or equivalent.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years relevant IT experience in Database Management and Administration.
- Experience in the Banking sector is preferred.
