About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Database Administrator (DBA) with proven experience in the Banking sectorto manage, maintain, and optimize our organization's database environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring database performance, security, availability, and integrity while supporting business-critical applications and systems.
Database Management:
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain database servers and related software.
- Monitor database performance and implement tuning measures to optimize efficiency.
- Manage database storage structures, tablespaces, indexes, and partitions.
- Perform database migrations, upgrades, and patch management activities.
Backup & Recovery:
- Develop and maintain database backup and recovery strategies.
- Conduct regular backup verification and disaster recovery testing.
- Ensure business continuity through high availability and failover solutions.
Security & Compliance:
- Implement and manage database security policies and access controls.
- Monitor database activities and ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Perform regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Experience working in regulated environments and supporting compliance with banking and information security standards.
Performance Optimization:
- Analyze and resolve database performance issues.
- Optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database configurations.
- Monitor database health and proactively identify potential risks.
Support & Troubleshooting:
- Provide Level 2/Level 3 support for database-related incidents.
- Troubleshoot database errors and system issues in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and IT teams to resolve technical challenges.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate database documentation, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Prepare database performance and capacity planning reports.
- Document incidents, resolutions, and system changes.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of Banking experience as a Database Administrator or similar role.
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or other
enterprise database platforms.
- Knowledge of database backup, recovery, replication, clustering, and high availability solutions.
- Experience with performance tuning and query optimization.
- Familiarity with cloud database environments (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud) is an advantage.
- Relevant certifications (Microsoft, Oracle, AWS, etc.) are preferred.
