Role Overview
The Senior Manager Database Administration (DBA) is responsible for leading the design, implementation, security, performance, and governance of all database systems supporting event operations. This role ensures high availability, data integrity, and scalability across ticketing platforms, registration systems, CRM tools, mobile apps, financial systems, and event technology solutions.
The position plays a critical role in delivering seamless digital experiences for large-scale events, exhibitions, and sports tournaments.
Key Responsibilities
Database Strategy & Architecture
- Design and implement scalable, high-performance database architectures to support large-scale events.
- Lead database planning for ticketing systems, accreditation platforms, attendee registration, and CRM systems.
- Develop disaster recovery and business continuity strategies for mission-critical event systems.
Operations & Performance Management
- Oversee installation, configuration, monitoring, and optimization of database environments (SQL, NoSQL, cloud-based platforms).
- Ensure 24/7 database uptime during live events and critical operational periods.
- Monitor performance metrics and implement tuning strategies to optimize system speed and reliability.
Data Security & Compliance
- Establish database security protocols, access control policies, and encryption standards.
- Ensure compliance with regional data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR or local data privacy laws).
- Conduct regular audits and vulnerability assessments.
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor DBA teams and database engineers.
- Coordinate with IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, digital, and event technology teams.
- Manage vendor relationships and third-party database service providers.
Event Technology Integration
- Support integration between ticketing platforms, event apps, accreditation systems, and payment gateways.
- Provide on-site or remote technical support during major events.
- Ensure real-time data synchronization across platforms.
Reporting & Analytics Support
- Collaborate with business intelligence teams to ensure accurate reporting.
- Support data warehousing initiatives for attendee insights and event performance analytics.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 812+ years of experience in database administration.
- 35 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- Strong expertise in SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or cloud database solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience managing high-traffic environments (ticketing systems, live event platforms preferred).
- Knowledge of database security best practices and compliance standards.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in large-scale events, exhibitions, sports tournaments, or entertainment environments.
- Familiarity with ticketing systems and CRM platforms.
- Cloud database architecture certifications (AWS, Azure).
- Experience with real-time data processing and integration APIs.
