Job Description

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Assists the dentists during procedures, including seating patients, providing instruments, mixing materials,

and charting examination and treatment results.

2. Prepares patients for oral surgery and assists the surgeon during operative procedures by performing

technical duties such as preparing surgical trays, setting up intravenous equipment, taking vital signs,

removing sutures, and monitoring EKG equipment.

3. Observes patients during surgical procedures, alert the surgeon to sudden changes in the patient's condition,

and administer emergency procedures as required.

4. Ensures all instruments, supplies, and equipment are cleaned, sterilized, assembled and prepared for use.

5. Assists in the preparation of cast models by preparing materials, taking impressions and pouring and

trimming models.

6. Takes, develops and processes intra and extra oral radiographs for diagnosis and treatment.

7. Records treatment results on patient records, instruct patients in oral care and appliance use, and provide

instructional materials as needed.

8. Schedules and confirms appointments, manages patient records, handles paperwork, requisition supplies,

and performs routine maintenance on instruments and equipment.

9. Keeps track of patient balances and coordinates with dental reception for fee collection and inventory

management.

10. Maintains and prepares equipment for sterilization, performs daily maintenance on dental units, and reports

defective equipment to the Chairperson of Dental.

11. Follows strict infection control protocols and keep. emergency response cart stocked and ready.

12. Manages and checks stock levels in the dental supply room, reporting shortages to the Chairperson of Dental.

13. Performs daily maintenance for the dental unit, cleaning of filters, oiling hand pieces and flushing suction

hoses.

14. Reports any defective equipment to the Chairperson of Dental Department.

15. Follows the rules of infection control very strictly.

16. Keeps the ER cart always ready for use and performs daily check of its medicines and inspect their expiry

dates and reports to the Chairperson of Dental Department for any shortages.

17. Takes vital signs for each patient, ensuring accurate and timely data collection.

18. Educates patients and their families about health conditions, treatments and preventative measures if

applicable.

19. Other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the job

Job Requirements:

Skills and Abilities: Excellent skills in customer service

Experience: None beyond requirements outlined below.

Education: Works requires the ability to assist a dentist in examining and treating patients

generally acquired through a high school education and one year of experience OR

completion of an approved dental assistant course.

Language: Oral / written English & Arabic desirable.

Licenses / Certifications: License for practice as per the regional health regulatory authority e.g. (SCFHS)
