Role Purpose
To develop, implement, validate, maintain business continuity and emergency response strategies and
solutions, including risk assessments, business impact analyses, strategy selection, and documentation of
business continuity procedures.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES
- Contingency Planning Identify potential Business Interruptions, develop safeguards against these interruptions, and implement recovery procedures in the event of a business interruption. Provide documentation and training on Contingency Planning concepts, strategies, and procedures.
- Business Recovery Develop safeguards and Business Recovery Plans and Procedures governing the Business Offices and Operations associated with the organization. Ensure that asset protection procedures cover critical Business Resources located at Business Offices.
- Risk Management Identify and categorise outage exposures that could cause business interruption, then mitigate the vulnerabilities to safeguard against business disruption. Responsible for ensuring adherence to business and regulatory requirements.
- Development Direct/assist in developing Business Continuity Plans and Procedures and providing regular status updates to the Business Continuity Steering Committee.
- Change Management Assess the Business Continuity implications of proposed technological or organisational changes and coordinate any revisions to existing Business Continuity Plans and Procedures necessitated by such modifications.
- Administration Coordinate routine updates to the detailed information supporting the Business Continuity Procedures (e.g., contact lists, personnel assignments, vital records management, inventory lists, off-site backup schedules, etc.). Coordinate electronic access to, and hard copy distribution of the Business Continuity Plans and Procedures. Administer contracts and service agreements with Business Continuity service providers.
- Training and Awareness Ensure all personnel with specific Business Continuity responsibilities are adequately trained to fulfil their assigned responsibilities. Ensure all employees maintain their familiarity with the relevant provisions of the Business Continuity Plans.
- Testing and exercising Ensure that all technical components of the Business Continuity Plans are successfully tested at least annually, or whenever significant changes are made to those components. Develop test and simulation scenarios to re-establish operations from various types of business disruptions and identify any recommended enhancements to the Business Continuity Plans and Procedures.
- Execution Provide support for any emergency, which may require activation of all or part of the Business Continuity Plans. If activation is required, serve as a liaison between the Crisis Management Team (i.e., senior management) and the Business Continuity Teams (i.e., the teams recovering operations at the alternate facilities and the teams restoring operations at the home facility).
- Manage the development of Business Continuity Plans.
- Identify Business Continuity requirements and solutions.
- Identify risks to Business Continuity, mitigation actions, and implementation follow-up.
- Manage the annual business continuity testing & exercising plan.
- Develop and maintain training and awareness program and collateral.
- Maintain all administration of the Business Continuity Management System.
- Identify improvements opportunities to the Business Continuity Management System.
- Assume management responsibility for Business Contingency planning efforts with a significant focus on assuring the adequacy of business unit contingency plans for critical business areas, functions, and applications. Tomaintaincontinuedoperations,assetprotection,andlossmitigationintheeventofa disruption, coordinating activities oftechnologyresourceswiththecompany'sbusinessunitsanddevelopmentgroups,asrequired. To maintain continued operations, asset protection, and loss mitigation in the event of a disruption, coordinating activities of technology resources with the company's business units and development groups, as required.

BACKGROUND, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of eight years experience in Corporate Business Continuity Management Program and Emergency Management Programs. Experience in Enterprise Risk Management Programs is an asset.
- In-depth knowledge of ISO 22301.
- Ability to understand and document workflows and business processes.
- Must demonstrate the ability to handle multiple and conflicting priorities and work under strict deadlines.
- Must have the ability to plan work assignments, prioritise tasks and deliver deadlines accurately.
- Should demonstrate the ability to identify and respond to risk areas.
- Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A practical and proactive problem-solver. Possesses strong business acumen and is confident, mature, and calm.
- Must have excellent time management skills. Able to prioritize and multitask and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

- Having a background in IT and business continuity/risk management is an advantage.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering, IT, Business Continuity, Risk Management or related fields. Master's degree is preferred.
- Professional qualifications in Business continuity such as Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), ISO 22301 LA/LI, or any similar certifications from reputed institutions.
