We are looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented Underwriting & Account Management professional to manage and grow a portfolio of commercial accounts while ensuring sound underwriting decisions and strong client relationships.
In this role, you will be responsible for driving profitable growth through renewals and new business opportunities, in alignment with the company's risk appetite and commercial strategy. You will combine strong analytical underwriting expertise with excellent relationship management skills to deliver high-quality service and sustainable portfolio performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow a portfolio of commercial accounts to achieve profitable renewals and new business targets in line with agreed strategy
- Review allocated cases and make underwriting decisions within delegated authority and risk appetite
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and intermediaries to enhance retention and business growth
- Develop and execute account plans to maximise revenue opportunities and strengthen client engagement
- Identify and support business development and marketing initiatives to increase market share and portfolio profitability
- Provide expert guidance on policy wordings, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with market standards
- Handle technical referrals for new and renewal business, collaborating with internal underwriting and risk teams
- Participate in audits, peer reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen governance and control frameworks
- Support complaints resolution within authority limits, ensuring professionalism and customer satisfaction
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date policy records and documentation across all systems
- Contribute to underwriting strategy execution for commercial lines, including coordination with Risk Management Services
- Share expertise with junior colleagues through coaching and technical support
- Engage in departmental projects aimed at improving service quality and operational efficiency
What You Bring
- At least 4-5 years of experience in a Managerial Position alongside an overall experience of over 10 years in non-motor underwriting, preferably in general insurance (Property & Liability)
- Strong knowledge of insurance principles, underwriting practices, and risk assessment
- Proven experience managing broker/intermediary relationships (minimum 5 years network exposure preferred)
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills with sound commercial judgement
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Relevant insurance certifications or regulatory licensing as required
