Scope:
The Design Manager at Abu Soma Development Company is responsible for leading and overseeing the design process of all real estate, hospitality, and infrastructure projects from concept development to detailed design and construction documentation. This role ensures design excellence, innovation, functionality, and compliance with local regulations and company standards. The Design Manager coordinates with architects, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of high-quality design packages that align with project objectives and business goals.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage all design activities for assigned projects from concept to completion.
Coordinate between architectural, structural, MEP, and interior design teams.
Develop design briefs and ensure alignment with project requirements and business objectives.
Review and approve design concepts, schematic designs, and detailed drawings.
Ensure design compliance with local codes, regulations, and company standards.
Manage external consultants, ensuring timely submission and quality delivery of design work.
Oversee design coordination meetings and workshops with consultants and stakeholders.
Conduct regular design reviews and value engineering exercises to optimize project costs.
Integrate sustainability and energy efficiency principles into design processes.
Ensure timely submission of design deliverables for permits and regulatory approvals.
Coordinate with procurement and construction teams to ensure design feasibility and constructability.
Monitor design progress and address technical queries during the construction phase.
Manage design changes and ensure proper documentation and approvals.
Review shop drawings and material submittals to ensure design intent compliance.
Lead post-project design evaluations and implement lessons learned.
Stay updated on the latest design trends, technologies, and building materials.
Develop design guidelines and standards for the company's projects.
Mentor junior designers and foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and quality.
Support the marketing team with design visuals and presentations for promotional materials.
Represent the company in design-related meetings with stakeholders and authorities.
Education & Qualifications:
1.Bachelor's degree in architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
2.Master's degree in architecture, Urban Design, or Project Management is preferred.
3.Professional certification or affiliation (RIBA, AIA, or equivalent) is an advantage.
Experience:
1.Minimum 8-10 years of experience in architectural design management for large-scale real estate, hospitality, or infrastructure projects.
2.Proven expertise in managing multidisciplinary design teams and leading large-scale development projects.
3.Strong experience in design coordination, value engineering, and design quality control.
