Manager, Design (Highways & Roads) - Real Estate Developer - Abu Dhabi
We are currently seeking for a Manager, Design (Highways & Roads) who will be responsible for leading and delivering road and highway design across a diverse portfolio of large‑scale development projects. This role ensures that all road and highway designs are planned, coordinated, and delivered to meet applicable standards, project objectives, and best practices.
will work closely with project managers, multidisciplinary internal teams, and external consultants, the role plays a critical part in integrating road and highway infrastructure into master plans and detailed development designs, supporting the successful delivery of complex real estate and infrastructure initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the design of roads and highways across multiple projects, from concept and master planning through detailed design and delivery.
- Establish, develop, and maintain road and highway design standards aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Review, assess, and approve road and highway design drawings, specifications, and technical submissions.
- Oversee pavement design to ensure solutions are efficient, compliant, durable, and cost‑effective.
- Coordinate closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and planners to ensure seamless integration of road infrastructure within overall development plans.
- Manage and guide external consultants to ensure timely delivery, quality compliance, and alignment with project objectives.
- Monitor design progress, budgets, and schedules, ensuring delivery milestones are achieved.
- Provide technical leadership and advisory support to project teams as required.
- Conduct site visits to assess construction works, identify issues, and support resolution in coordination with delivery teams.
- Review and support construction mitigation and problem‑resolution strategies with a focus on cost, safety, and time efficiency.
- Implement and oversee quality assurance and control processes for all road and highway design activities.
- Support risk identification related to road and highway design and contribute to mitigation planning.
- Deliver knowledge‑sharing initiatives and training to enhance team capability and performance.
- Stay informed of emerging technologies, materials, and trends related to road and highway design and construction.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Master's degree is preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in road and highway design, ideally within large‑scale real estate or mixed‑use developments.
- Proven experience managing complex infrastructure projects and delivering outcomes on time and within budget.
- At least 5 years of experience in the UAE or GCC region.
- Experience working with public, semi‑government, or major developer‑led projects is highly advantageous.
