Job Description

Role Overview

The Designer MicroStation will support the Process Engineering Department (PED) by developing, updating, and maintaining various engineering drawings using MicroStation for ongoing and new projects. The role requires strong technical drafting skills, site coordination experience, and the ability to work independently with complete ownership of design deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

1. Engineering Design & Drafting Support

  • Prepare, update, and revise engineering drawings using MicroStation for projects executed by the Process Engineering Department (PED).
  • Work on a variety of drawings, including but not limited to:
  • Piping General Arrangement (GA) drawings
  • Piping isometrics
  • Plot plans
  • Layout drawings
  • As-built drawings

2. Drawing Updates & Project Coordination

  • Modify and update drawings in line with engineering inputs, design changes, and project requirements.
  • Coordinate with PED engineers, stress, layout, and construction teams to ensure design intent is correctly reflected in drawings.
  • Ensure drawings comply with company drafting standards, project specifications, and applicable codes.

3. Site Verification & Field Support

  • Visit project sites to perform site verification for existing and new piping works.
  • Cross-check actual site conditions with drawings and isometrics to identify deviations.
  • Update drawings to accurately reflect as-built and field-modified conditions, ensuring alignment with project requirements.

4. Independent Working & Design Ownership

  • Take full responsibility and ownership for all assigned design and drafting activities.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while adhering to project schedules and quality standards.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of all drawings and related design documents.

5. Quality Control & Documentation

  • Perform self-checks and peer coordination to maintain high-quality design outputs.
  • Maintain proper document control, revision history, and drawing registers.
  • Support audits, design reviews, and constructability reviews when required.

Experience & Skill Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in MicroStation-based design, preferably in petrochemical, chemical, oil & gas, or industrial projects.
  • Strong understanding of piping layouts, isometrics, and plant design practices.
  • Experience working on brownfield and greenfield projects is an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with site coordination and field verification activities.
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, layouts, and engineering sketches accurately.
