DevOps Engineer- (Hybrid, Multi-Cloud & Onprem)-Inside UAE Candidate

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role based in Dubai for a DevOps Engineer specializing in Multi-Cloud, Sovereign, and on-premises systems. The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing automated solutions using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), managing system administration tasks, and ensuring high-quality software development and deployment. Responsibilities include configuring and maintaining Linux-based environments, setting up and optimizing CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring system reliability, scalability, and security. Additional responsibilities include working with on-premises Kubernetes deployments (bare-metal or VM-based), kubeadm cluster setups, HA control plane architectures, Kubernetes networking (Calico/Flannel/Cilium), and container runtimes such as containerd or CRI-O.

Main Responsibilities

1. On-Premises & Multi-Cloud Infrastructure Operations

• Manage and optimize infrastructure across data centers, private cloud, sovereign cloud, and major public clouds (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Maintain secure hybrid connectivity, networking, and identity federation across diverse platforms.
• Support infrastructure lifecycle management, including provisioning, patching, upgrades, and capacity planning.
• Implement backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability strategies tailored for hybrid and distributed architectures.
• Manage on-premises Kubernetes clusters, including bare-metal or VM-based infrastructure, kubeadm provisioning, and maintaining HA control planes.
• Perform ETCD backup and restore operations as part of cluster reliability and DR processes.

2. CI/CD Pipeline Management

• Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI or similar tools.
• Automate build, test, and deployment workflows for containerized and legacy applications.
• Ensure efficient, reliable, and secure release processes across hybrid environments.

3. Infrastructure as Code & Automation

• Develop and maintain infrastructure using Terraform, Ansible, Helm, or equivalent tools.
• Automate provisioning and scaling of Kubernetes clusters (OpenShift experience is a plus).
• Implement self-healing mechanisms, configuration reconciliation, and automated monitoring.
• Extend automation across multi-cloud, on-prem, and sovereign platforms, ensuring consistency and compliance.

4. Containerization & Orchestration

• Manage and optimize Docker containers and Kubernetes deployments.
• Configure and operate container runtimes (containerd, CRI-O) in production environments.
• Work with Kubernetes networking plugins such as Calico, Flannel, or Cilium.
• Implement best practices for container security, lifecycle management, and resource optimization.
• Support multi-environment deployments across hybrid cloud and on-prem infrastructure.
• Deploy and manage ingress controllers (NGINX, Istio, or equivalent).

5. Monitoring, Logging & Incident Response

• Deploy and maintain monitoring systems such as Prometheus, Grafana, and equivalent tools.
• Configure logging and alerting platforms (Loki, ELK, etc.) for hybrid/cloud-native environments.
• Troubleshoot production issues and participate in root cause analysis and post-incident reviews.

6. Collaboration & Documentation

• Collaborate cross-functionally with developers, system administrators, cloud engineers, and security teams.
• Document infrastructure designs, IaC modules, automation frameworks, and operational processes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of DevOps culture, tooling, and reliability engineering practices.

Required Profile

Essential Technical Skills

• Proven experience managing and operating on-premises infrastructure and Linux-based systems (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL).
• Strong expertise in multi-cloud and hybrid cloud architectures, including sovereign cloud environments.
• Advanced skills in containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes), including on-premises Kubernetes deployments, kubeadm setups, HA clusters, and Kubernetes CNI solutions (Calico, Flannel, Cilium).
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD platforms (GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.).
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Shell, Bash, Python).
• Strong understanding of networking, security, and IAM in hybrid and multi-cloud deployments.
• Experience managing ETCD backup/restore and Kubernetes ingress controllers.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with GitOps tooling (ArgoCD).
• Knowledge of service mesh and ingress controllers (NGINX, Istio, etc.).
• Familiarity with security and scanning tools (SonarQube, Trivy, or similar).
• Exposure to Terraform, Ansible, and advanced Kubernetes automation
