Job Description
The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing,
repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. The ideal
candidate should possess in-depth knowledge of diesel engines, fuel systems,
electrical systems, and other components commonly found in diesel vehicles.
Responsibilities:
Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on diesel
engines, including fuel systems, electrical systems, cooling systems, and
emissions control systems.
Conduct routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes,
filter replacements, and fluid checks, to ensure optimal performance and
longevity of diesel vehicles.
Inspect and test diesel vehicles and equipment to identify
and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults or malfunctions.
Use diagnostic tools and equipment to retrieve fault codes,
interpret data, and perform system tests for accurate troubleshooting.
Repair or replace faulty components, such as injectors,
pumps, turbochargers, and sensors, following manufacturer's specifications and
industry standards.
Perform engine overhauls, including cylinder head repairs,
piston and ring replacements, and timing adjustments.
Conduct inspections and maintenance on diesel vehicle
systems, including brakes, suspension, steering, and exhaust systems.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, services performed,
and parts used for each diesel vehicle or equipment.
Adhere to safety protocols and follow proper procedures for
handling hazardous materials, such as diesel fuel, lubricants, and chemicals.
Stay updated with industry trends, advancements, and best
practices in diesel engine technology and repair techniques.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a diesel
mechanic vocational or technical training program is preferred.
Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic, preferably in an
auto workshop or similar environment.
Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, including fuel
injection, turbocharging, exhaust systems, and emissions control.
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to
identify and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
Familiarity with diesel vehicle repair manuals, technical
specifications, and wiring diagrams.
Ability to read and interpret diagnostic codes and repair
procedures.
Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity to handle
tools and equipment effectively.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail to
accurately diagnose and repair diesel engine issues.
Physical stamina and ability to work in various conditions,
such as tight spaces, elevated platforms, and outdoor environments.
Effective communication skills to interact with customers,
colleagues, and supervisors.
Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
