ABOUT THE JOB
De Art is looking for a Digital Art Archivist to help organize, document, and preserve the growing body of artistic and cultural material published and collected by the platform.
This role focuses on digital archiving, artwork documentation, metadata, artist records, image organization, and long-term accessibility of cultural content. The successful candidate will establish consistent systems for organizing digital materials and help ensure that information about artists, artworks, exhibitions, and cultural subjects remains accurate, structured, searchable, and usable over time.
The ideal candidate combines an interest in visual arts and cultural heritage with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and an understanding of digital information management.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop and maintain organized digital archives for artworks, artists, exhibitions, editorial materials, images, and related cultural resources.
• Create and maintain consistent metadata for artists, artworks, projects, images, and other digital assets.
• Establish practical naming, categorization, tagging, and file-organization standards for digital art materials.
• Research and verify essential information about artists, artworks, dates, techniques, collections, exhibitions, and related subjects.
• Maintain artist and artwork records and ensure that information remains consistent across different De Art resources.
• Organize high-resolution images, photographs, documents, and other digital assets for long-term access.
• Document image credits, copyright information, attribution requirements, sources, and usage conditions where applicable.
• Collaborate with editors, researchers, curators, designers, and content producers to ensure that published materials are properly documented.
• Identify inconsistencies, missing information, duplicate records, and other issues within digital collections.
• Help establish procedures for version control, backups, file preservation, and structured access to important digital materials.
• Develop practical workflows for adding newly acquired or newly published materials to the archive.
• Research relevant archival and metadata standards and recommend approaches appropriate for De Art's scale and activities.
• Support future development of searchable digital collections and structured cultural resources.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Library and Information Science, Archival Studies, Museum Studies, Art History, Cultural Heritage, Information Management, Digital Humanities, or a related field.
• Strong interest in visual arts, cultural heritage, digital collections, and information organization.
• Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Understanding of metadata, digital asset management, cataloguing, or archival principles.
• Ability to research, verify, structure, and maintain cultural and artistic information.
• Comfortable working with spreadsheets, databases, content-management systems, and digital file structures.
• Good English communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to establish consistent information-management procedures.
• Familiarity with image metadata, digital preservation, copyright, or collection-management systems is an advantage.
• Experience with museums, galleries, libraries, archives, cultural institutions, publishing, digital collections, or art platforms is a plus.
• Knowledge of contemporary art, photography, digital art, or visual culture is strongly preferred.
• Experience with databases, taxonomies, controlled vocabularies, or digital asset management systems is an advantage.
