Job Description

Aligned with Singapore's Research, Innovation and Enterprise 2030 plan and its key health focus areas of healthy longevity and precision medicine, as well as the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine's priorities, this position leads the Institute's research and development of digital health technologies through to their adoption in clinics and communities across Singapore.

The successful candidate leads research and clinical trial projects end to end, from study design and protocol development through ethics submission, execution, and dissemination. This includes oversight of investigator-initiated trials and industry-partnered clinical studies, ensuring scientific rigour, regulatory compliance, and timely delivery against milestones, alongside responsibility for publishing findings and translating them into evidence that supports adoption.

The role establishes the pathway for payer-side engagement, building the collaborations and validation evidence required for emerging WisDM technology platforms to gain traction with payers. It concentrates on the translational dimension of both WisDM's own platforms and those of its ecosystem partners, moving technologies from trial settings into routine clinical and community use.

The position further serves as the primary liaison for established technologies currently under trial at WisDM, identifying ecosystem-specific opportunities for adoption and deployment in partnership with NUS research institutes and partners across academia and industry.

This is a leadership role with people management responsibility. The successful candidate supports the day-to-day management of the team, including performance development, and mentoring of junior researchers and staff. The role carries equal responsibility for external relationships, establishing and stewarding collaborations with industry partners across the WisDM ecosystem.

1) Lead the design, execution, and delivery of research and clinical trial projects across the WisDM portfolio, from protocol development and ethics approval through execution, analysis, and dissemination. Ensure scientific rigour and delivery against milestones across investigator-initiated and industry-partnered studies.

2) Identify and develop co-development opportunities between WisDM and established technology firms, including proprietary Singapore and sub-population-specific biomarker signatures. Work with NUS technology transfer and institutional partners to structure the agreements, licensing arrangements, and co-development terms that move validated platforms toward commercial deployment.

3) Build and sustain relationships with payers and health system decision-makers, developing the economic evidence and adoption case required for WisDM platforms to enter routine care. Develop parallel analyses for WisDM studies that present the payer perspective on integrating platforms into broader care, including cost, workflow, and reimbursement considerations.

4) Publish original research in peer-reviewed Q1 journals as first or co-author, and produce an annual perspective or review paper on emerging trends in digital medicine and healthcare delivery efficiency in collaboration with WisDM partners. Submit abstracts to relevant conferences and represent the Institute through panel participation at sector meetings.

Requirements:

.PhD, MD, or equivalent doctoral degree in medicine, public health, biomedical engineering, health economics, data science, or a related discipline.

Job Relevant Experience or Attributes:

.Minimum 15 years of leadership experience spanning people, projects, and functions or business units, with a track record of delivering outcomes across organisational boundaries.

.Demonstrated ability to develop and steward partnerships that advance technologies from clinical development into broader deployment, including self-initiated engagement with community, corporate, and ecosystem partners.

.Track record of institutional representation in international fora, including multilateral organisations (WHO, WEF), regulatory harmonisation bodies, or global industry consortia, with the credibility to convene and lead cross-sector workstreams.

.Clear understanding of adopter and downstream stakeholder perspectives, specifically how a technology reduces cost of care, improves outcomes, or fits existing clinical workflows. The role depends on being able to articulate a technology's value in the terms each stakeholder group actually uses.

.Proven capability to author content for peer-reviewed articles as well as technical publications, particularly the health economics and adoption roadmap components.

.Ability to construct parallel analyses and defined pathways showing how WisDM technologies can be adopted into clinical practice, developed in partnership with institutional stakeholders across the roadmap.

.Experience managing and developing research and professional staff across career stages, including direct line management, mentoring, and co-identification of projects that advance institutional objectives.

.Strong written and oral communication, with the credibility to represent the Institute's objectives and technology portfolio to clinical, technical, commercial, and policy audiences.

.Understanding of healthcare financing and reimbursement mechanisms, with specific familiarity with Singapore's system an advantage.

.Working knowledge of health economic evaluation methods and health technology assessment frameworks.

.Familiarity with clinical trial design and conduct, regulatory pathways for digital health technologies (including HSA and relevant international frameworks), and research ethics requirements.

.Ability to interpret clinical and real-world evidence, including comfort with study outcome data and the statistical concepts underpinning validation claims.
