Position: Director of Middle East Business Development

Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Position Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Director of Middle East Business Development to lead strategic growth initiatives across the Middle East defense markets. This pivotal role will be instrumental in expanding our global footprint by identifying and securing new business opportunities, fostering high-level partnerships with Middle East governments and defense contractors, and navigating complex geopolitical and regulatory landscapes. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Middle East international defense markets, a robust network of industry and government contacts, and a strong grasp of export controls and compliance regulations. This is a high-impact role requiring a strategic thinker with exceptional relationship-building capabilities and a proven track record of driving revenue growth within the defense sector.

Required Duties And Responsibilities

Market Analysis and Strategy Development:

  • Conduct in-depth market research to identify potential new Middle East markets for defense products and services.
  • Analyze geopolitical dynamics and regulatory environments to develop targeted market entry strategies.
  • Develop comprehensive Middle East business development plans aligned with the company's overall strategic objectives.

Relationship Building And Partnering

  • Establish and cultivate relationships with key decision-makers within Middle East governments, military officials, and defense industry partners.
  • Negotiate and secure strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and distribution agreements with international companies.
  • Participate in Middle East international defense conferences and exhibitions to build brand awareness and network with potential clients.

Business Development Activities

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities by understanding Middle East defense requirements and tailoring solutions accordingly.
  • Lead the development and submission of complex international proposals, including pricing strategies and compliance documentation.
  • Conduct in-depth presentations and demonstrations of defense capabilities to potential clients.

Compliance And Export Controls

  • Ensure strict adherence to all international export control regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Manage necessary licensing processes for export of defense technologies and products.
  • Stay updated on evolving export control laws and regulations.

Required Skills And Abilities

  • Deep understanding of the Middle East defense industry, including key players, market trends, and geopolitical considerations.
  • Proven track record of success in Middle East business development, particularly within the defense sector.
  • Excellent negotiation and relationship building skills with senior government officials and business leaders.
  • Expertise in export control regulations and compliance procedures.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Fluency in English and proficiency in additional languages preferred.
  • Experience in technical writing and proposal writing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a team orientation

Preferred Skills And Abilities

Education and related experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in international relations, business administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7 years sales experience in international defense market
  • High proficiency with business software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, Teams, Salesforce CRM
  • Must be capable of working non-standard work hours as required including evenings, and weekends.

Travel Requirements: Must be capable of traveling within Middle East and occasionally flying to the U.S. for company meetings.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

  • Must have the ability to stoop, stand, climb, occasionally lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • May be performing physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors.

Working Conditions: Person will work from their residence.

Other Requirements

It is an essential requirement for the person in this role to have a legal right to work in the United States and be eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization and DoD Clearance.

Salary: $120,000-$190,000 annually

Salary depends on relevant work experience, education, training, essential skills, and/or other factors such as specialized or high-demand professions. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible for an annual bonus. The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of salary or annual bonus.
