The Business Development Director is responsible for driving the company's growth by expanding its presence with real estate developers, and other key market influencers across the UAE and selected regional markets. The role focuses on originating opportunities, strengthening strategic relationships, and converting market access into secured engineering consultancy commissions across multiple disciplines.
This is a senior leadership role requiring a deep understanding of the UAE development landscape, strong commercial acumen, and an established professional network within the built environment sector.
Qualification and Experience:
- Minimum 1520 years experience in business development within engineering consultancy, PMC, or construction advisory services.
- Strong UAE market experience with proven exposure to developer-led projects.
- Demonstrated track record of securing consultancy work for multidisciplinary engineering practices.
- Established network with developers, PMC consultants, and construction management firms in the UAE.
Education & Professional Background
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related discipline.
- MBA or postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
Key responsibilities:
Market Development & Client Acquisition
- Develop and execute a business development strategy aligned with the company's growth objectives and service offerings.
- Proactively originate and secure new consultancy opportunities with:
- Real estate developers
- Master developers
- Public and semi-government entities
- PMC and construction management consultants
- Leverage existing industry relationships to gain early visibility on upcoming projects and tenders.
- Identify new market sectors, clients, and geographic expansion opportunities.
Relationship Management
- Build and maintain senior-level relationships with developers, PMC consultants, and construction firms.
- Act as a key relationship holder for strategic clients, ensuring long-term engagement and repeat business.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, client meetings, and networking forums.
Bid Management & Commercial Support
- Lead or support go/no-go decisions for bids in coordination with senior management.
- Oversee the preparation of expressions of interest (EOIs), pre-qualifications, and proposals in collaboration with technical and commercial teams.
- Support fee strategy development, negotiations, and contract commercial alignment.
- Ensure proposals align with client expectations, market positioning, and company capabilities.
Strategic Input & Market Intelligence
- Provide market intelligence on competitor activity, procurement trends, and developer strategies.
- Advise leadership on pipeline health, forecasted opportunities, and conversion risks.
- Support strategic planning, service diversification, and long-term growth initiatives.
Internal Collaboration
- Work closely with technical directors and discipline heads to align business development efforts with delivery capability.
- Support internal teams in understanding client expectations and market positioning.
- Contribute to refining the company's brand, messaging, and value proposition in the market.
