Job Description

Job Purpose:

To lead and facilitate with employment opportunities for HBKU Students through building strong relationships with employers and to oversees key areas including engagement of HBKU graduates, also developing outreach plan locally and internationally.

Key Result Areas:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor the University's career development policies in accordance with HBKU objectives in consultation with VP Student Affairs
  • Monitor the maintenance of updated database of the community leadership
  • Lead the Career Development Center function at HBKU towards its vision of achieving excellence by collaborating with students, faculty, and staff to understand the student and employer needs and provide world class student development services
  • Build strong relationships with local, regional, and international employers to ensure that students find suitable opportunities to enhance and apply their acquired skills
  • Ensure that strong relationships with Alumni are developed at local, regional, and international levels to ensure that alumni become effective advocates and supporters of the university through a structured program of engagement
  • Establish new student and alumni development initiatives in line with the vision and mission of HBKU and feedback from service users and advice from faculty and staff
  • Lead career counseling services aimed at assisting students in formulating and achieving their educational goals and career aspirations
  • Establish student internship opportunities and employment related programs/initiatives to combine the educational experience with a practical application of learning
  • Lead and develop outreach plans locally and internationally for more collaborations with educational institutes
  • Monitor and maintain a database of available internships; disseminate available postings to appropriate HBKU students

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field & 8 years of relevant full-time work experience, 5 of which at a senior supervisory level
  • Experienced in providing and leading careers advice and education in a university
  • Excellent understanding of various career advice and guidance strategies plans and frameworks
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports & communications and to articulate ideas clearly and concisely, Arabic proficiency an advantage
