Job Purpose
The Director of Education will lead the design and delivery of the Museum's educational offer, developing programs that connect learners of all ages to the museum's collections, exhibitions, and ideas. The role requires deep knowledge of the national education system, school curricula, and university networks, alongside familiarity with pedagogical methods and museum learning practices. The ideal candidate will bring originality to program design, tailoring experiences for school groups, families, and adult learners while ensuring alignment with learning standards. The Director will oversee the creation of teaching resources, establish partnerships with schools and universities, and harness technology to broaden reach and impact. A strong manager and collaborator, the jobholder will be responsible for evaluating learning outcomes and driving continuous improvement. In developing strategy and program, the jobholder will activate synergy potentials in collaboration with institutions across the Royal Arts Complex and King Salman Park, ensuring that strategies and activities are aligned with the Museum's mission and values.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Strategy and Planning:
- Conceptualizes, designs, and directs program and engagement strategies that align with the mission and values of the museum
Budget Management:
- Develop, manage, and monitor the Education budgeting in collaboration with the Finance Department.
Policies, Processes, and Procedures:
- Establish protocols and best practices for development and implementation of educational programs.
Functional Accountabilities:
- Develop and implement educational programs in alignment with the museum's mission and strategic goals
- Oversee the volunteer program and manage and coordinate the museum's volunteer staff, including training, scheduling, and evaluation.
- Manage the education department and oversee daily and long-range operations of the education department, including budgeting, scheduling, and maintenance.
- Collaborate and work closely with the museum departments, such as exhibitions, collections, and marketing, to develop and implement educational programs.
- Creating online educational content by developing interactive and engaging online resources, such as web-based programs and virtual exhibits.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and monitor program attendance, gather feedback, and analyze data to assess the impact of educational programs.
- Seek funding opportunities and identify and secure grants and other funding opportunities to support educational programs.
- Create special educational offers for families, especially for weekends and vacation periods.
Stakeholder Management:
- Developing and maintaining relationships with schools and community organizations by building and strengthening partnerships to reach a wider audience and expand the museum's reach.
- Engage with internal stakeholders to support collaboration and alignment.
People Management:
- Live by MoWC values, ethical standards, and governance.
- Manage and support team members in performing their tasks in line with established policies and procedures.
- Guide, mentor, and develop the Education team to ensure continuous growth and achievement of functional objectives.
- Set clear performance goals, provide regular feedback, and support professional development through coaching and formal evaluations.
- Delegate authority appropriately to empower team members and encourage accountability.
- Contribute to workforce planning, recruitment, and performance management while promoting employee engagement and motivation.

Job Qualifications and Requirements
Knowledge and Experience:
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in museum education.
- Knowledge of educational theories and practices
Education and Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Art History, Museum Studies, Education, or a related field is required. A Master's degree in these fields is strongly preferred.
Personal capabilities and qualifications:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and abilities effectively communicate with educators, students, and the publicis essential.
- Project management and organizational skills and abilities to manage multiple projects, develop budgets, and meet deadlines are important.
- A strong understanding of educational principles and best practices is necessary to develop effective programs.
- The ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders is crucial.
