About the Role:
As Director, you will lead the evaluation and validation of external AI solutions to shape PureHealth's long-term AI strategy. Reporting to the Executive Director of AI & Data, your focus will be identifying high-impact partnerships, conducting scientific due diligence, and aligning opportunities with PureHealth's strategic goals. You will bridge the gap between innovation and implementation, ensuring AI investments are scientifically sound, data-compatible, and mission-aligned.
Key Responsibilities:
- AI Scouting & Strategy: Identify and evaluate global healthcare AI vendors aligned with PureHealth's data assets and strategic needs. Provide data-driven recommendations to the Corporate Strategy and Technology Offices.
- Scientific Due Diligence: Lead feasibility studies and research to assess the scientific validity, integration potential, and real-world performance of AI solutions.
- Research & Innovation: Collaborate with academic and tech partners on joint research initiatives and validation of emerging AI technologies.
- AI Evaluation Frameworks: Develop criteria to assess scientific credibility, data compatibility, privacy, ethical considerations, and ROI for AI investments.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with leadership, clinical, and technical teams to align AI initiatives with organizational goals and strategy.
- Knowledge Sharing: Translate complex research into actionable insights, and present findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in AI-related research and development, with at least 5+ years in a leadership role, with a proven track record of translating scientific research into practical applications and strategic recommendations in a healthcare setting.
- Strong understanding of various AI techniques (machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, etc.).
- Demonstrated experience in translating research insights into practical applications with measurable real-world impact.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex scientific concepts and data-driven insights to diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with publishing scientific research papers in leading journals or conferences.
- Prior experience in a research lab setting.
- Prior experience working in a healthcare, life science, or biotech setting.
- Experience with establishing research collaborations and partnerships across different regions.
- Experience working with large, complex healthcare datasets and an understanding of data governance principles.
- Experience in evaluating technology vendors and conducting due diligence.
